Sliding part is 37.5" with handle is 45-1/4" -high total. as a tripod =45-1/4". NOT a 51". I decided to keep it. For me it's OK. looks sturdy. Battery is cr2032 not a brand so have a good brand one for spare. As u switch remote ON - display on the phone shows how much charge remote battery has (%). It's good. I wish it has a wrist strap. So many options with this selfie stick and I'm here for it. It's comfortable to hold in your hand and doesn't wobble when it standing up right or when connected to the phone holder. I was skeptical bout 2 things before purchasing which was losing the mini remote and if the height would be good enough for close and far distances and I have to say I'm satisfied with both. The remote doesn't fall out when you least expect it because it's covered by the phone holder when not in use. If you're contemplating which selfie stick/tripod to get, make this one your choice!
