I needed a hose repair kit because the line I use with my air compressor had a cracked section which I would rather not put pressure behind. Better to have a short and safe hose, than a long and dangerous one - and you can always use a kit like this to add fittings to reconnect the undamaged sections. All of the components came in a nice storage box, which firmy snaps shut. It is relatively thick plastic, and is perfect for sorting out the different types of fittings. I found the crimping tool to be very high quality. It has a pleasant galvanized-type finish, and is comfortable to adjust and squeeze. Maybe the strangest choice by the manufacturer is that there is an additional die for 3/16" fittings, but the kit only includes 1/4" fittings. I am surprised that they didn't go with 3/8" ID for the second size, because it is the most common size of hose, but maybe that would be too large to get a good crimp with this type of tool. For me, the weakest part of this kit is the fittings. I was not impressed with how roughly some of the threads were cut.
