I’ve swapped those stock hygrometers from my PolyDryer boxes with these, and the difference is night and day. The originals were pretty useless, consistently dropping to a flat 10% reading after a short while. I eventually just tossed them - keeping the batteries as spares - and switched to these, which have been holding a steady, accurate reading while giving me the temperature as well. If you want, you can definitely switch them to Celsius; the PCB designers actually prepared the board for this exact modification. To do it, just pry open the back of the housing using the two flat slots and remove the cover. Lift the PCB, flip it over, and find the solder blob at the C/F marking. Melt that blob with your iron, and once it's liquid, drag the tip toward the adjacent pad. The area is already fluxed and waiting for you, so the excess solder will be "sucked" into the new spot, leaving the original contacts cleanly separated. I purchased two of the 6 pack mini for a total of 12 mini hydrometers. Considering the price of each 6 pack (batteries included for each unit), this is a good deal. It's advertised as +- 2 to 3% accurate for RH but it's off by a bit. I inserted all 12 mini hydrometer in a controlled environment at 49 percent RH for 72 hours. After 72 hours 10 of the mini hydrometers read 57 percent RH and two hydrometers read 62 RH. My calibrated hydrometer (not a mini) read 49% RH. Since I know the margin of error, I plan on keeping and using the mini hydrometers to track humidity in a few humidity controlled cases I have at home. You can purchase a much more accurate hydrometer but you're going to pay a very high price. Depending on your intended use for these mini hydrometers, they may work fine as long as you know accuracy is a bit off. The thermometer reading on each unit is pretty much spot on. I use these for curing, e.g., put in jars or curing bags to monitor the temp & humidity and they work great. I've order 6 sets of these and to date, only one arrived inoperable, but a minor investment in fresh batteries fixed that one. I chose instead of other similar digital gauges this one claims the tightest accuracy range, e.g., others were +/-5. That said, they've shown to be tight on their ranges - see picture. Note that beyond the upper right corner of picture, there's an exterior window & its cold outside, explaining why those guages are reading a degree lower than rest!! So yeah, these are consistently accurate. I can't comment on longevity, but so far, so good. Read more

I’m pleasantly surprised that these things work so well they're cheap but accurate and rugged. I have in several places in the house and have often knocked them off onto the floor. They don’t care, just keep working. I think I’ve had them over a year and no sign of battery issues. If you think you have cold spots in some rooms or want to know what the humidity is it only takes a glance. No on/off switches to worry with. Read more

Recieved the product in a timely manner. 2/5 units had dead batteries. Seems to function Ok. There is no on/ off switch and uses 2 LR44 button type batteries. Read more
