Lovely and fun paintings, do not crack or chip when dropped, and have a pleasingly soft, mellow tone. The tone is important to me as a formerly professional musician with a studio full of young and adult piano students. I use these with my kid students alongside other maracas and percussion instruments, to compare tone colors and train the ear, while learning rhythm skills. Our daughter enjoys playing with these. They make a pleasant sound, not too loud. The paint has not chipped yet, so that is a good sign for longevity. We have an empty water bottle with popcorn kernels in them that is way too loud and these are much better (not so loud). I recommend these for a toy for babies. Read more
