LOVE the glass bowl: a note for those who are concerned with the handle part: it is 100% all glass including the part touching with the handle so no worries if you are worried about any plastic cimponents. very happy with the quality and heats up super fast. You need to adjust down the temperature by 30-50 F coz it is a bit "too powerful" to avoid roasting the surface of your food. Just a bit learning curve then you will love it! Read more

Just received. Here are my first impressions. First off it is a Boswell according to the recipe book and box. Challenging to open the box as no handle holds for the foam protecting to remove it. Best way is the pull the flaps away, turn the box upside down and lift the box off the insides. Has 2 booklets with it, manual and recipe 'book' with 6 recipes, 2 of which have little interest in the US. Manual seems to be translated Chinese as challenging to follow from translation issues, but does cover the basics. Measurements are metric in manual but US on fryer. Manual provides no contact info for service or questions. Unit has warranty but no info about it. The glass cooking bowl weights 5 ¼ pounds. Included silicon mat is not mentioned but but research indicates that it is a trivet for hot bowl to protect counter, table, etc. It is not for cooking use. Does come with metal rack for inside the bowl to allow for heat circulation. Unit is very quiet when running. Fryer cannot be directly placed against back wall as power cord connect sticks out from back about 3 inches and cannot be removed. Something to consider for product placement. Minumum temperature is 140º F and 5 min minimum time. Manual recommends unplugging when not in use and running at 400ºF for 5 minutes before first cooking use after receiving. Heating element is bright enough to act as a light when cooking. Glass bowl can get very hot and can burn flesh if touched when cooking. Manual also recommends preheating before cooking for better results. Given the bowl is thick glass, takes a while too cool after cooking. Something to consider regarding after cooking after shut off. Settings cannot be changed while cooking but it is quite easy to turn off, reset time and temperature and immediately turn on again. Unit seems well made. Tongs and mitten not so great. Bowl after cooling can be placed in dishwasher. If using abrasive cleaner I recommend someting like Bon Ami iand a nonstick scrubbing pad, nstead of a harsh cleanser like Barkeepers Friend to avoid glass scratches that might comprimise bowl integrity over time. Should you place a hot to the fingers bowl in contact with water you will likely be buying a new bowl or fryer after picking up the pieces of glass after it shatters. The feet for the unit consists of short plastic feet with thin rubber pads glued to them. This may allow movement when removing bowl and pads may need replacing at some point. Control panel is on top with unit short enough to see readings. Helpful printed cooking guide is on top near back. Interesting is pressing on left side of top activates control panel. Bottom metal grate seems to be plated steel rather than stainless steel. As such would not reccommend overnight soaking or using harsh abrasives on it for cleaning. Not sure I would place it in the dishwasher with harsh detergents as they might eventually result in rusting should any microcracks be in the plating. Star rating is based on overall design, packaging, and documentation. With better documenation, easier unpacking, and better feet would earn it an initial 5 star rating. Suggested major improvements would be changable settings while cooking and making the rear plug removable to allow more countertop space when not in use. I plan updates to this review as I use it. I already have an air fryer. I did a bunch of research years ago, and at that time, Ninja was the consensus favorite. Of course, I bought the Ninja. For our family, the air fryer is an occasional but much-appreciated appliance. Chicken tenders, French fries, and other potato things are regular uses, but honestly, anything that needs a blast of heat to warm it or crisp it up is a situation where the air fryer is perfect. When this air fryer showed up in my Vine offers, even though I didn’t need it, I figured I could pass it on to my grown kids who recently moved out and need all kinds of things. After getting some hands-on time with this air fryer, I don’t want to give it up. This thing is really cool. One of the most important things I look for when evaluating items is how user-friendly it is. Without referring to an instruction book, I want to be able to use it right out of the box and 6 months from now without needing to Google a manual. This air fryer easily meets that requirement. The control buttons are all on the top. There are 6 preset buttons, temperature up and down buttons, and time up and down buttons. There is also a stencil on the top that indicates what temperature and time the preset will set. Keep in mind the preset is just a quick starting point. You can adjust the temperature from 250 degrees to 400 degrees, and you can adjust the time from 5 minutes to 60 minutes no matter what preset button you press. The one exception is the custom button, which allows temperatures from 140 to 400 degrees. The custom button does not retain its settings after power is removed. So basically, push any preset button, adjust the time and temperature if necessary, then push start. The “basket” of this air fryer is a heavy-duty glass container. It measures approximately 9 inches square by 5 inches deep. It weighs 5 pounds 9 ounces and thankfully has a handle on the front and the back. The air fryer without the glass container weighs 7 pounds. Altogether, the total weight is 12 pounds 9 ounces. The coolest thing about this air fryer is seeing the orange glow from the heating element. It’s like watching a campfire. The practical thing is you can monitor the cooking progress to make better decisions about stirring, turning, or doneness. I have one nitpick item. The white plastic shell on my unit isn’t perfect. The surface is smooth but slightly lumpy and bumpy in places. You can’t really notice it unless the light shines on it at a certain angle. You can feel it if you run your finger over the surface. It might just be a one-off problem on my unit. It doesn’t affect the operation. Read more
