I gave this to my mother in law for Christmas. She has Alzheimer's and lives alone, and she's at the point where she doesn't know what year it is, let alone the day or the day of the week. She's also been struggling with whether it's morning or evening this winter since it gets dark at 5pm and her house doesn't have good light to begin with. So I figured a clock like this would help, and it really has! It took a few days of reminding her that it's on her end table next to the couch, but now she mentions it and says how nice it is. She also isn't going to bed as soon as the sun sets (the other day she said "5 is too early for bed" when before Christmas she was all ready by 4:30). It actually seems to help her day/time orientation. The display is crisp and clear, and I'm glad I got the 11" because the outer frame is thick and the actual display is closer to 7". It's a good size for her because she can't see up close very well since her cataract surgery. I wish the cord were longer, but it's a standard USB/USB-C so I could buy a longer one if necessary. Getting it set up was a little bit of a learning curve but once I got the hang of it, it was easy enough. If you can set preferences on a computer monitor, you can handle the settings on this clock. I had to hide the remote because my MIL would lose it, but I'm not using the alarms since she has a home health aide to make sure she takes her pills. It's nice that the buttons aren't obvious because she'd probably push them until she breaks it, and I'm grateful for the auto DST function in advance. The desktop stand was a little hard to get onto the clock and took a bit more oomph than I expected but that just means it won't fall off easily. I've considered getting another one for my mom, who thankfully doesn't have dementia but might like the features. Read more

I'm old. I need a clock that tells me what day it is in addition to time and date. I had a cheaper dementia clock that worked fine, but it was the kind with vertical and horizontal bars that light up in combination to form numbers, etc., and those started flickering. I threw that one out and got this one, and it's way better. It's pretty, too, with a nice frame and little images corresponding to the time of day (moon at night, etc.). The 7" version is lots smaller than my first one, but every bit as easy to see and read. It was ridiculously easy to set up. I love it. Read more
