HI - This butter dish works just fine, but 2 things to note that I didn't when I bought it: 1 - it's quite narrow. Yes, the stick of butter fits, but there's no wiggle room. If you don't lower the cover on straight, you'll easily bump the butter and get it on the cover, 2 - the glass knob on top works. But as an older person, I do worry about it slipping out of my grasp.
