Went from an office-focused mouse to this one. Ok, it doesn't have the fancy ergonomics of a molded-to-the-palm design of the MX mouse, for instance... But the accuracy of this mouse is night and day. I would wonder why my view would stutter with FPS games w/ my old mouse, but w/ this it has become buttery smooth. 8BitDo has been really ramping up their quality the last few years, and I'm all for it. Great team of designers and engineers! Other technical details: It's a little lighter than what I'm used to, but I get the sense that this is a rather lean device. You're here for a quality sensor, working mouse buttons, and not dead weight. for $50 I feel it punches above its weight. Time will tell if the durability outlasts previous mice I've had with Corsair (lasted 2yrs), and Razor (lasted <1). But given 8BitDo's attention to button quality (I've had multiple of their controllers, even their recent keyboard, which I'm using to type this review), I would be surprised if there were any issues out of the gate. It's a great buy. Read more

Look, I’m a grown man with a mortgage, a wife who puts up with my nonsense, and a garage full of half-finished projects. I wasn’t shopping for a soulmate in the peripherals aisle, but then this Mouse rolled in looking like it time-traveled straight from my 1989 Nintendo setup. Gray body, red A/B buttons, the whole nostalgic package – it’s basically the NES controller we all abused during Super Mario Bros. marathons, but now it’s pointing at spreadsheets instead of Goombas. And yeah, it has ALL the buttons. Start, Select, those two extra programmable side ones that look like turbo wings. I programmed one to mute my mic during Zoom calls when the dog starts barking, and the other to pull up fantasy football stats. Because priorities. My wife caught me mashing the side buttons during a work call and just shook her head – “You’re 40, act like it.” Nah, this mouse keeps me young. Tracking is stupid good. That PAW 3395 sensor glides smoother than I do when I’m trying to sneak another beer from the fridge without waking the kids. Feels a little light in the hand, like it’s watching its carbs, but it’s sturdy as hell. I’ve knocked it off the desk reaching for the TV remote during Sunday football – twice – and it just bounces back with those crisp, satisfying clicks from the Kailh switches. Sounds like popping bubble wrap, but fancier. The real showstopper? The charging dock. This thing just snaps onto it with this perfect magnetic thunk, like it’s docking at the mothership after a long day of scrolling. I legitimately pick it up and set it back down just to hear that sound. My wife walked in and goes, “Are you seriously getting excited over a mouse charger?” Yes. Yes I am. It’s more satisfying than closing all the cabinet doors she leaves open. Battery lasts forever – I charged it once when it arrived and then forgot about it until I wrote this review. Connects via Bluetooth, 2.4G, or wired – switches faster than I change the channel when a minivan commercial comes on. If you’re a married dude (or anyone) who still gets a dumb grin thinking about 8-bit days, but needs a mouse that actually works in 2025, grab this. It’s retro cute without being a gimmick, performs like a beast, and honestly, it’s the most fun my desk has had since… well, let’s keep it PG. 10/10. Would blow in the cartridge again. (Sidebar: Nintendo, if you’re reading this – it’s a compliment. Sue somebody else.) Read more

Great mouse. Excellent sensor and solid configurability from software which lets you manage both DPI and polling rates. The sculpt is a little small for my hands but mostly comfortable. (In my opinion, the only uncomfortable elements arise from the ambidextrous design. Good for lefties, and achieves a pleasing symmetry at the loss of a teensy bit of comfort). I used this on macOS Tahoe 26.1 Software for macros is where this really fails. The functions and shortcuts that come built in with the “8bitdo Ultimate Software v2” is good enough( Copy, Paste, media buttons, etc), but the macros really are a pain. I’ve been unable to get any modifier keys working with macros, in any combination. Timing is all over the place when recording. Macros really need some work. Right now,the software incorrectly detects my Retro R8 mouse (Nintendo colors) as though it is the Xbox style. No idea why. Would be 5 stars if the macros and software improved. Acceptable flaws as is. Read more

The 8BitDo mouse is a perfect match for the NES-style keyboard. The retro design is spot-on, and they look amazing together on any setup. It feels great in the hand, with a smooth, responsive performance that makes it a joy to use whether you're working or gaming. One thing that stood out right away is how lightweight the mouse is. It was a bit unexpected at first, but definitely not a dealbreaker - just something I'll get used to over time. The side buttons are a fantastic bonus, offering easy customization for various functions and really boosting productivity. Overall, it's a thoughtfully designed piece of hardware with style and functionality to match. Highly recommend it to anyone who’s into retro aesthetics or just wants a great-performing mouse with a unique look. Read more

This has replaced my Razer. I bought it to match my keyboard, but honestly, its much better than the name-brand mouse i was using. The wireless dock gives it both a place to charge, and secure anchor when not in use. it also has a usb-c port right in the mouse, so you could forgo the wireless dock entirely if you choose, and use it as a wired mouse. On-the-fly sensitivity adjustment is also a huge plus. Though it feels a bit light when in use, I'm quite used to using a weighted mouse. I'd love to see the manufacturer include adjustable weights like my logitech. Overall, I've been beyond impressed with this company and their quality and design. Read more
