First of all I would like to mention, I live in germany and this item won't be available here until late december 2018! So I decided to order the dvd from the USA, cause I didn't want to wait for it so long. At this point my fulsome praise to the logistics! I chose express shipping and it was literally express. But now, returning to the rather interesting point of the story - the movie itself. I've seen A Ghost Story in cinema twice and was overwhelmed. Beside the gorgeous story the film is convincing with it's very one look - very artful and sophisticated in its best way. At some point it feels like viewing a Gregory Crewdson picture with its very own melancholy and deepness. Yes, it's a ghost under a sheet, the modest way to imagine a ghost, but it's not goofy at all - it just works out very well! And this is the point - creating such truthfull and emotional moments with someone under a sheet is a big deal. While watching, you can see, that everyone involved in this project loves the job they do! Finally, the synergy of a great, intense story writing, outstanding actors, unique camera work and tremendous music (I can strongly recommand the new album of Dark Rooms!!) makes this movie peerless. For me it is one of the most touching motion pictures, not just in 2017, but in general. If you're touched before by Terrence Malick Stuff, you are perfectly right with this one. Read more

Simply amazing!!!! I can see that this isn't a movie for everyone and some may hate it. There was little dialog in the movie and when there was, it was more on the quiet/intense spectrum. The beginning I was wondering where the movie was going and was a little nervous about liking it. By the end my emotions were all over the place. I wanted to cry, scream and hug my loved ones. Your heart will ache after watching this, but it makes you think and wonder how the universe works. I will watch this over and over again. Read more

Yes, it is very slow moving. Sometimes almost static. Sometimes to the point where you might think you're looking at still photographs. But if you start by letting it do what it's going to do, and keep with it, I think you'll have one of the most rewarding movie-watching experiences ever. It's a meditation on time, loss, love, existence, expectations...many things. It rewards multiple viewings, especially once you've gotten past the first slow watch. Highly recommended. Read more

This is quite an unusual film. It's calm, deliberate, and takes its time. Very little dialogue over its 90 minutes. It is told from the ghost's perspective over his extremely lengthy existence. It is not scary and not a horror film. But it is a good film. Special features include: A discussion among creators running 20 minutes Interview with film composer running 5 minutes 5 minute deleted scene of Casey Affleck making morning coffee 11 minutes of trailers for off beat films Read more

Despite several problems the movie suffers from, it's a smart and unusually engaging film. Slow paced, but not pretentious by any means, it's the best film from A24 company, in my opinion. Highly recommended for fans of high quality independent cinema. Read more

A Ghost Story is difficult to describe. And to do so might give people the wrong impression. Just know that this is NOT a horror film. This movie is incredibly slow moving and contemplative, and will NOT be for everyone. But if you stick with it, and pay attention to the details... you'll experience a pretty powerful film about love, loss, futility, and how fleeting our lives truly are. When you're done, it will make you want to hold your loved ones a little more tightly. Read more

Watched this film three years later on netflix, immediately purchased a hard copy for collection. Those kinda movies that make you think over life through multiple layers, travel across time in different dimensions, cherish the memories as mountains rise and fall with the universe unfolds endlessly buried with our shortness of breath and courage of remembering. 2017 is the best year for movies in its decade.
