I bought this about a month ago. It was a perfect fit and worked like a charm. We weren’t able to open our trunk. All fuses and relays were fine, leaving this part as the last resort. Installed on a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Premier (2016 new body style). Replaced the original GM factory part. It's sad to see such a high trim car have this fail... but that's where we are at. I hope to at least get 4 years out of this unit as I did with the original. At the very least, the price for this part is great - especially if it will need to be replaced more often than units from older vehicles I've had. Installation is very easy: 1) Remove the plastic shroud around the catch for the unit. Pull straight off, no hardware holds it on. 2) Remove the black push pins & remove the padding. There are 5-10 of them. 3) Remove 2 Torx T27 bolts that hold this unit to the trunk lid. These are NOT security Torx bolts - they are standard (no hole in Torx bit is needed). 4) The actuator slides over then out. Once out the wire is easily removed and the steel cable needs to be removed - there is a sort of plastic 'door' which slides over to allow you to pull the steel cable out. 5) Install in reverse order. This product fits a 2017 chevy Malibu. It is very much plug and go. The quality was great and worth the money that it’s listed for. The dealership was going to charge me 200$ for this same part.
