Improves sense of control and safety when using camera

A simple effective addition to the compact Sony camera. I’d go so far as saying, I love the fact I can now rest my thumb on this. I was tempted to dock one star for the fact that with my medium size hands and fingers that it is a little bit trickier now to press the menu button, but that’s not really the fault of this part. It fits well I haven’t had any trouble getting it on or off yet. It also stays on with enough firmness, not to worry about it falling off. And it improves my ability to hold the camera, especially with bigger lenses, which is what I bought it for. But quite frankly, I’m enjoying using it even with small light lenses. It makes it more like handling my Cannon 5D MKIV in an odd sort of way. Of course that’s a much heavier camera lol Read more

Sometimes simple is better.

I have tried three separate thumb rests for the Sony A7CR. The Smallrig, JJC and now Haoge. This one is officially my favorite. This one beats out the others in my opinion because it is simple in design and feels secure. The way it sits out further away from the camera body helps me support the camera more when in vertical orientation. Other reviewers state that it fits tight on the hot shoe, but my biggest issue with the JJC was that it wasn't as secure. Often times, the JJC would come off while storing the camera in my bag. This is however not an issue present on the Haoge. Bravo Read more

It's Tight but still alright

The media could not be loaded. I will agree with other reviews, it's a very tight fit. However I don't believe it's tight where there's concern and a reason to be alarmed. Disclosure: I have 3 FF cameras that I use A7RV A7RIV and this "compact A7CR" The Tight fit is not a concern unless you're taking off and putting a flash on constantly. My compact cam is my run-n-gun camera, I literally pic it up and go with it "as is" Now if this is your main camera YES this thumb piece might get annoying. The price is reasonable for the benefit of a better grip and handling and the aesthetics. Read more

also fits a6000/a6100/a63000/a64000 perfectly

this is the best grip for the a6000/a6100/a63000/a64000 cameras as well, other grips touch and will wear away the AF/MF lettering on the body. I really dont understand the negative reviews, this part is supposed to be a grip for you to hold your expensive camera with, why would you want it LOOSE? Read more

Not a good fit on a7c ii

I should have listened to the other reviews, but there were a few things that I didn’t like about the small rig version for the a7c. The small rig has obvious branding on the front which I don’t like as well as a cold shoe socket which is not useful and adds to the sleek profile of the a7c. I wanted this one to work because it was lacking those things. However, like the other reviews mentioned the menu button and rear dial are very obstructed with this one. Can you still get to them? Yes. But they are obstructed in an unacceptable way, especially compared to the small rig. In fact, the whole thumb bar sits further out from the camera with this one, and not in a good way. It looks like it was designed for another camera and was “good enough, ship it!” for the a7c. Finally, the silver color is way off. It doesn’t match. I saw another review mentioning that it matches one of the dials. I don’t see that. It looks wrong. This one is a strikeout for me. Read more

Functional stuff

It is small and simple but how much different it is to make your handling of the cam that counts.. Especially if you are using big heavy lenses... Cool product to have.. A must have Read more

Expected better quality

I had been looking for a thumb rest for my Sony A7C for a while, as using a cage helped with the ergonomics on the front of the camera, but I needed a better grip for the back of the camera. I had looked for a while and had hoped this would be the solution. I have used it for three weeks and have been pretty disappointed for two primary reasons. The first is that the materials are light, which is nice, so it doesn't add unnecessary weight, but it is lightweight and cheap material, which isn't good. It feels like if I press too hard on it when I am using a heavy lens, there is a good chance it may bend or break. The other is that the pieces weren't machined very well, so it is loose in the top show on the camera, which is the biggest reason why I stopped using it as I was concerned it would damage it.
