While $10 for 2 bars of soap may seem steep, it pays to recognize and understand what goes into the price (no pun intended). Aside from being a great quality product, it checks pretty much every box that a consumer should care about. As a cold process soap, it's both sulfate and paraben free, so it cleans without over stripping your skin of its natural oils. The main oils it's made from are organic. In particular, the palm and coconut oils are certified fair trade and sustainable. Palm oil trees are especially a huge concern for numerous environmental reasons, and while the "Palm Free" label on the box can be a bit misleading, I believe the better designation is "(RSPO-IP) Palm Done Right," which can be seen on Adams Handmade Soap's website. This means that the palm oil used has met rigorous standards, including being 100% traceable, wildlife friendly, and not contributing to deforestation. While some of the essential oils that contribute to the scent are not organic, they are clearly indicated in the label. For those that care, the soap is vegan and cruelty free, so no animal testing and no animal products are used. Additionally, the soap is made by a small business in North Carolina, USA. Each of these certifications and classifications requires significant hurdles to achieve and steps to undergo in production, but ensures a product you can feel good about using. By no means am I shaming anyone for getting a more economical soap, but if you have the means to afford it, soap is something that you expose your body to constantly and use frequently. It can be argued that frequent-consumption products like these are when you should consider spending a bit more on, for not only your own health, but for the environment and your local economies as well. The soap itself has a wonderful scent. It is much more lemon and and eucalyptus forward rather than sage. It lathers well and necessarily gives a clean feeling after using, especially due to the bright citrus smell. The bar can be considered a bit larger than most at 8.5 x 6 x 2.5 cm (given in metric since it's closer even numbers). I also like to cut the bars into halves or even up to fourths so it's a more manageable size to use, and helps the bar last longer, in my opinion. Read more

This Adams Handmade soap is genuinely one of the best soaps I’ve ever used. It checks every box I care about: clean, effective ingredients, a luxurious feel, and a scent that’s bright, natural, and absolutely refreshing. The bar lathers beautifully, leaves my skin feeling soft and clean, and the essential oils give it a crisp lemon–sage aroma that feels both uplifting and calming. I also love that it’s vegan and made in the US with no unnecessary additives. It’s rare to find a soap that nails both utility and scent this perfectly, but this one does. I’ll definitely be repurchasing. Read more

I love that these bars of soap come in a pack of two! The listing picture shows two bars but doesn’t specify that you actually get both, so I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived. The ingredients are super clean, which I really appreciate, and the scents are lovely—very much an essential oil type of smell, but not overpowering. My only complaint is that while they leave my skin feeling squeaky clean, they also leave it a bit dry afterward, which I didn’t expect given the essential oils. It’s not a dealbreaker since I just follow up with lotion, but I do wish they were a little more moisturizing. Overall, a great natural soap option! Read more

This is real castile soap as expected with a very nice aroma with a bit of citrus smell. Mine was two bars of lemon sage and it is pleasant and refreshing. It is a good price for real castile soap and this is what my wife prefers. It is also a nice alternative for camping or travel since it can be used for the hair also. I will set aside one bar to try on my next camping trip. Read more

I absolutely love this soap! The lemon scent is so fresh and clean without being too strong, and it leaves my skin feeling soft instead of dry. You can really tell it’s made with quality ingredients and it lathers nicely and rinses clean. I love using this in the morning to wake up. I also like that it’s gentle enough for sensitive skin and doesn’t have that harsh chemical feel that a lot of soaps do. It’s just simple, natural, and really pleasant to use. I’ll definitely be ordering this again! Read more

This is a two pack of soap, with each soap in a box. The ingredients state that they are 84% organic, and they label which ones are organic. The smell is very nice, subtle and I got more lemon scent than sage when initially opening and using. Its a basic soap bar overall, not fancy (no swirls or bright colors etc) but its nice and natural. The soap lathered well, and did not leave an oily film. The oil in it is apparent, as before washing with it, it feels soft and slick, so it will not dry out hands with regular use. It looks like the Adams company is in North Carolina, and does both small lot and large lot soap manufacturing and labeling. At $10 for 2 bars of 4.5oz soap, this seems on the high side compared to bath bars like Dove etc, but its on par for other natural/organic soap bars. This is a good value for your money to support a local company and buy a natural product. Read more

Whoa, the Adams Lemon Sage Pure Castile Bar Soap is Pickle PERFECT. I've tried several soaps from this company and I've LOVED them all but this variety is a li'l different. It cleans supremely well just as all the other Adams products do. But it smells like a dill pickle mixed with eucalyptus and lemon tea! Go figure that one out. I do have to say the combination of scents here is just so wonderfully weird. It isn't though I'm wandering about town and people shout, "Pickle!" at me or anything along those lines. I am more sensitive than most others with scents - so I have informally asked several other people about this soap. They say they can smell eucalyptus, the lemon, maybe even the coconut. Looks like it is a just "me" thing but under the terms and conditions I signed up for here I gotta call things as I see them so... I have to say "pickle" lol Love the soap though! It's special stuff seriously. Read more
