I've been wearing athletic/basketball shorts more than ever since shifting to working at home with the pandemic. I'm also pretty active so they are used for hiking, trail running, some mountain biking, and just long neighborhood walks with the dog. I have some old trusty pairs that finally needed replacing, and decided to try my 2 favorite brands shorts to see which are best these days. I ordered these, as well as under armour raid shorts, a very similar pair. Spoiler alert, but these adidas shorts win by a mile. There are a few key things that set these shorts apart from any pair you can get at a department store. Someone actually put thought into the engineering of these shorts. There is a perforated section on the back of the shorts right below the waist band at the top of the butt for breathability at a key sweaty spot. The under armour shorts are much more basic using the same un-perforated material for the whole short. Other reviews complain about pocket size, but must have never tried to run with a phone, keys, pocket knife etc. Adidas thought of this and unlike my under armour raid shorts, which have more generous sized pockets that flail about wildly during a run, smashing your things against your leg with every stride, the adidas shorts pockets are engineered better and fit my Galaxy s10 and EDC pocket items just fine for everyday use, and when I get to running, the stuff seems taut in the pocket and doesn't swing around, it stays put while running almost like magic. The pocket material is also much thicker and sturdier than the under armour shorts which have a cheap feeling light mesh material in the pockets. The cut of the adidas is more tailored looking and less sloppy than the under armour shorts, and the material is slightly thicker, yet both feel barely there lightweight. The main material of these shorts is light enough to be unobtrusive for any workout, but thick enough and quality feeling enough to last durability wise. The under armour shorts feel great, but the material is thinner and not as high quality feeling and has already started pilling and snagging where the adidas have maintained their integrity and look new still. Long story short (no pun intended) these adidas shorts will be the ones I grab when I want to do anything athletic, or just want my best pair of shorts for around the house, and I'll be buying several pairs of these perfect shorts. Stop here, these are the ones to buy. Read more

These shorts are great. Nice fit, very light and airy so they’re great for working out. They are honestly pretty silky smooth too. Sometimes i stop and ask myself, “Am I wearing women’s pajamas or athletic shorts?” With that being said, if you buy any Light color other than black or dark blue, you have to go with boxer briefs or your junk will show clear as day. If you’re into that sort of thing, go commando with these and everyone will know what you’re packing...for better or worse. Read more

I own these in the gray and also red. Also I have a similar blue pair. The reason I have so many is they look great, fit well, and are really comfortable plus I like the Adidas brand. Only small drawback is the pockets are a bit small so do take care not to lose things out of the pockets. I will surely buy more of these in varying colors. Read more

I was a college swimmer and I wanted some shorts that were similar to the team issued ones we received for training. These are exactly what I was looking for! they are just like the ones I got in college except these shorts actually have pockets. I am about 6 foot and 195 pounds and the Large size is the perfect fit for me. I love how breathable these shorts are and I like how they hang down to just about the middle of my knee caps. I have already ordered 3 pairs of these shorts in total. I cannot comment on the longevity of these shorts as I have only had them for a week or two but they seem to be well made. Read more

I have a few pairs of Adidas shorts and sweats now and they’re probably my favorite as far as those go, they’re super comfy and the material they’re made out of is very breathable. These are nice shorts, very lightweight and for the price they are incredible. Fit true to size. Would definitely recommend Read more

Almost all women's athletic shorts are too short, too tight, and too bright. I go to the gym to work out, not win a beauty pageant. These shorts are perfect for my size M body. Unlike many mens' shorts, the pockets are streamlined and don't create a bulge at the hips. Fabric is slippery, making it easy to slip on sweatpants on cold mornings. And I actually like the look, subdued and sleek. Read more

I got the quality I expected cause of the brand and then some. If you are looking for a pair of shorts that have a high comfort level these are a good choice. The area around the hips was very loose and had a lot of freedom to move around without the shorts "hugging" the hips to tight like most high quality brands do. Read more

The 3 stripe Addidas shorts have been a staple in my dresser for years and it has always been a high quality and consistently good product. My latest purchase has Addias trying to save a few cents by reducing the size of the pockets. The pockets are now so shallow that they are not very useful. My entire hand will not fit in the pocket and anything that is placed in the pockets will fall out when sitting. The shorts are still comfortable and look nice, but for making the pockets almost useless these shorts rate no higher than 3 stars. Read more
