We normally carry our Exergen TAT2000C thermometer in a canvas bag, only to find on occasion that the probe cover has popped off, or something was pressing on the power button. This case holds the thermometer safe and secure. The fit is very snug - the thermometer can only sit "on its side" - which prevents us from storing extra probe covers in the case's inner pouch. I purchased again and then bought the carrying case and have had no problems since then. It's been a few months and the case has held up really well. I've had no problems with the zipper.
