These were not up to what I was expecting. The dark glasses were hardly dark enough to make a difference when you’re out and bright sunlight. I did return them. The seller was very slow and refunding the money. At first, they said they didn’t receive the glasses back, but I had a shipping tracking number so I was able to prove them wrong on that and it was just a horrible experience. It was a third-party seller on Amazon not happy with the way it was handled. Took me over a month to get my money back. Trt to avoid third-party Sellers is what I learned from the experience. I am pleasantly impressed with these smart glasses. Their appearance is as expected; their functionality, for the price point is excellent. That they have auto dimming lenses with UV filtering is a plus. Their camera, Bluetooth, memory, microphone, speakers, intuitive controls and interface to ChatGPT built in, make them a worthwhile competitor in the marketplace. Add visual recognition and feedback, language processing and translation and these are great to use and actually are useful in certain settings. The only weakness that I see in the product is the software that is used by almost all Chinese made smartphone glasses. It has some strong features but tends to rely on older data for the AI features and requires a connection to the software’s server to transfer photos and videos from the glasses to your phone. Overall I do really like these glasses. Read more

I’ve been considering getting a pair of smart glasses for some time, but I wasn’t ready to spend a lot on the name-brand ones just yet in case I didn’t find much use for them. I decided to try a less expensive version to test out. These glasses are a lot better than I expected them to be. For one, they don’t look bad at all when I wear them. I only need to wear glasses when I drive so I don’t normally wear any, but I usually go for a more aviator-style. My wife told me that these look good on me, so I think my next pair of “real” glasses will be this style. I also like that these have photo-chromatic lenses. They are clear indoors and darken in sunlight so they can be worn inside and out which makes them perfect for smart glasses use. If they were only clear or shaded, they wouldn’t be as usueful everywhere. The lenses look like they are easily swappable so if you wanted to put prescription lenses in them it’s probably a possibility. To use them as smart glasses, you need to install the “HeyCyan” app on your phone. You have the option of creating a user account in the app or you can skip it and just use a guest mode if you don’t feel like tying it to your identity. I can’t vouch for any privacy nor do I know what information is shared with the app. If you have privacy concerns, maybe look into them for yourself. I’ve already given up on privacy when it comes to technology so this is just one more thing added to the mix. The smart features are really nice on these. The picture and video quality are very good considering the cost of these. Maybe the higher-end name brand ones are even better, but these are still very nice. They are very easy to operate. To take a picture, you can either reach up and click the button on the top of the right arm or simply say, “Take a picture”. The glasses will beep, flash the LED light, and make a shutter sound and the picture is captured. To record video, you can double-click the top button or say, ‘Record video” and the glasses will beep, turn the LED light on continuously, and video will be recorded. The internal memory is 32GB so it will record quite a lot, but I still haven’t been able to see how long it can actually record. It can be pretty long, though. You can also record audio-only, by either clicking a button on the bottom of the right arm near the hinge or by saying, “Record audio”. Again, the glasses will beep, the LED light will begin a ‘breathing’ pattern and the microphones will start recording sound. They can probably record hours and hours of audio. To transfer the recorded content to your phone, you need to use the app. When you click the “Import” button, the app will request that you pair to a WiFi connection initiated by the glasses and the content will be transferred from the glasses to your phone over the faster peer WiFi connection. Note that the Bluetooth connection between the glasses and phone will stop during this process so if you’re listening to music or on a phone call, the audio will stop until the import process is completed. The audio quality on these aren’t great. This is probably one of the things that is better on the name-brand glasses. It’s fine for phone calls or audio prompts, but you’ll notice the lower quality when listening to music. It’s not terrible, but it’s not great. The AI is pretty good. I don’t really use much AI for much, so I can’t really comment on good AI vs bad AI, but those seems to work rather well. If you double-click the bottom button on the right arm near the hinge, the glasses will snap a picture and use AI to describe the image that it catches. It will use voice to describe the image, and it can be very verbose. It’s almost scary how much detail it picks up, even describing the breed of dog if mine is captured in the picture. If you don’t want to listen to five minutes of voice descriptions, you can open the app and if you tap the image it will stop talking and you can just read the results. The glasses also have some translation features but I haven’t been able to try them out yet. I have tried some translation earbuds that work surprisingly well so I would assume that these would be at least as good. It will also translate signs on other languages if you capture an image of them. Honestly, I’m quite impressed with these. I don’t take a lot of videos and post them to social media, but I do try to make recordings when I’m fixing or tinkering with things so I can refer back to them when I’m reassembling them or want to see something later. These glasses make it super easy to do that while keeping my hands free. My grandkids were also visiting when I got these, and it was really nice to be able to catch them in those cute candid moments. Instead of needing to look for my phone and open the camera app and maybe miss the moment, I could just reach up and tap a button to take a picture of whatever I was looking at. My wife, who usually isn’t interested in these kinds of things, asked if she could bring them with her on a trip that she’s taking tomorrow. She is a singer and performs for choreographed dancers and needs to learn her queues, so she usually uses her phone to record them to learn the sets. With these, she can just watch them and can also take notes with her free hands. Maybe at some point I might upgrade to one of the name-brand smart glasses, but for now, these are perfect for me. These are good looking glasses that work as well. It took a little bit to get used to using them in conjunction with my phone but now it is really cool to be able to have sun glasses and video and music all on the down low. These are worth it for a starter set and now I think I will look into getting another pair because these are so new and fun to use for a variety of options. Read more
