I bought this because my wood floor was starting to show wear from the wheels on my work chair. It was delivered quickly, rolled up tightly in your typical Amazon, rectangular box. I knew it needed to be unrolled and left out overnight to relax flat. They had a sticky label showing which side should be up when laid out for use. That's not really necessary since you can feel the difference on both sides to tell which side should be in contact with the floor, but this was a convenient feature nonetheless. I let the mat relax for about 24 hours in our dining room before putting it under my chair. The ends did not curl up like some of the other reviewers comments. Yes, there were some "waves" but they didn't restrict movement. Those waves have since flattened out. The mat is much lighter in weight than what I've purchased previously at office supply stores. I had a situation where my desk is located is between the hardwood floor and where the area run ends. So my chair would constantly get stuck on the edge of the rug and flip it. Basically the most annoying thing when trying to move your chair at all in your space. I tried rug tap to put on the bottom of the edge of the rug to hopefully stop it from flipping but it would still get stuck in the chair due to just not being flat enough for the wheels to properlly roll over. Now I could possible get "roller blade type" chair wheels but I honestly don't like those at all as they raise the height of the chair more and just don't roll nearly as well as the wheels that came with the chair. However this floor mat solved everything. It came rolled up but flattened out very quickly. I have been standing and rolling around it for many hours a day since I got it and it holds up great. It perfectly works on both the rug and the wood floor for a smooth transition. It's big enough to cover enough space while not being too big for the space entirely. It doesn't have the ridges on the bottom for "grip" on rugs and thats a good thing because that doesn't work well on wood floors. It does slide a bit with use ( you won't notice it while moving) and to remedy this I just used the rug tape I purchased to stick the front end to the wood floor. Now it stays put and I can move freely in my chair without getting stuck at all. I am extremely happy with the outcome. The mat is great. Stays put on my tile floor and is easy to roll my chair around on. The only issue I have is it's been about a week and the plastic/chemical smell is still lingering. I can smell it whenever I'm sitting in the chair. Read more
We do a far amount of work from home (information technology, related) and this mat has been put through it. So far, we have not noticed any problems with it; wearing down or sliding. It is easy to roll on, no drag felt. Read more
I just got new wood laminate flooring installed in my home office and didn't want to destroy it with scratches from my wheelie office chair. The mat works perfect and is a great size for my space. It is also transparent enough that you almost don't see it. The only comment I have against it is that it does slide around a little. I have to pull it back into position every couple of days, but no big deal. Overall, I'm very satisfied and would buy it again. Read more
I waited a couple of weeks since I originally opened this assuming it would finish off-gassing but even today when I moved it to my room and started using it still smells SO TERRIBLE. Originally I opened it in my room (big mistake). It took a few hours to get the smell out. I moved it out to the garage to flatten and off-gas until today. As I sit in my chair (on top of my new floor protector) it is all I can smell. Not sure how to send it back at this point but I will have to figure that out... Update: The seller was kind enough to refund this however I feel I should still warn others. Not everyone has my sense of smell but I've also noticed that the mat slips very easily on the floor (even with a chair on it). If you walk across part of it with no one sitting, it will slip under you and could make you fall. Read more
I have had this mat in my office now for a year and six months. I will say the mat it self works well and protects your floor. However, on day one I noticed the smell. It is a very strong odor that smells like a cross between vinyl and light cigarette smell. I have aired it outside and everything for days. I still smell it 18 months later. At this point I am not sure of it is safe to smell long term. I have decided to buy a mat from a different company over health concerns at this point. I saw other complaints in the reviews and ignored them and kept thinking surely the smell will go away. However, it has not and there is no way this safe to breath for years and years. With that said I am certain without the smell the material will last many years of daily use with no problem. Read more
I liked that all I had to do on the day it was delivered was take it out of the box and leave on my porch in the sun. By the end of the day when I brought it inside, it laid perfectly flat on my floor. No curling, no having to weigh the corners down, so that was a pleasant surprise. It's thinner that I expected, but it's holding up. I do wish that we're not asked to rate durability, because there's no way to know that about any product until you've had it for awhile. It's been on my floor for two weeks, and so far I have no complaints. I'm not going to give any stars on durability for a question that can't be answered right away. Bottom line - it's working fine and the price was right. I'm happy with my purchase. Read more
