I recently wore this to an engagement dinner over a sleeveless formal dress. I have the same item in white and wore it to a summer wedding over a formal sleeveless dress, but the black seemed a better idea during the winter. It is cropped so no added bulk around the hips. It fastens with a hook & eye which allows it to swing open in the front. Great top for what I was going for - to cover up those upper arms but no added bulk or weight. Very nice. This was well made and I liked the silkiness and pattern of this shrug. I'm short waisted and it came to my hips, which was what I wanted. The fit was as expected. It's nice it is machine washable.
