I chose the lug sole so I could use the shoes flexibly while traveling in winter, and also have something elegant to wear to meetings. They look a little clunky and less elegant than I expected, largely due to the outer sole being a little large. I needed a nice pair of dress brogues. The problem is I live in Juneau, Alaska, and elegant leather soles don’t work here. Most of the time we all wear Xtra-Tuf rubber boots, even at church! These shoes were the perfect solution. Great quality, though probably not as dressy as the cordovan Florsheim Imperials we wore in the 1960s and 1970s.
