Just the right amount of noise reduction imo. I bought the pro version and use the high filter red ones and like them a lot more than the loop ear plugs I've been using. These are more comfortable in my opinion and the tips dont fall off. Try em out I think youll like them. I like these earplugs a lot. I’ve always used the foam type but two issues made me try something different; 1 the foam plugs can be time consuming to insert correctly, and 2 they block everything so I can’t hear my helmet speakers. The Alpine earplugs do a pretty good job of cutting wind noise, but still allow me to hear music in the background and make a phone call if necessary. They don’t hurt my ears, are easy to insert and remove, and the center stems don’t stick out and rub against my helmet lining. I use the “tour” type and they work well for me. I did notice I can hear the helmet speakers better in my Shoei helmet than my older Bell Star. The Bell has ton of vents and is not known as a quiet helmet, so no surprise there. I was impressed with the Alpine MotoSafe plugs enough that I ordered a second pair for backup and/or passenger use. I accidentally ordered the “race” type but I haven’t tried them yet to see how different they are. My daughter wore them for several hours on a ride with me and had no complaints. She could still hear her music and talk to me via bluetooth intercom. When I originally bought these, I also ordered a pair of Earos to try at the same time. They seemed to be good quality, and I tried them for a few minutes, but the Alpines just fit and worked better for me, so I returned the Earos. Someone else might have a different experience, everyone’s ears are different. I just rode about 4 hours today with the Alpine tour earplugs, no issues. The 20db plugs work! I have tried the generic foam ear plugs, nonoise, and eargasm, and these Alpine plugs definitely make a noticeable reduction in wind noise on my Ducati Diavel Strada. I haven't tried the 17db units yet but I like having more silence and I'm willing to bet these would be about the same as the other ear plugs I've tried. I definitely recommend them for good hearing protection and if they need replacing these 20db units are what I'll purchase. The carrying case is pretty but quite unrealistic for motorcyclists -- it's too large and basically requires to be stored in a pocket. I actually use my nonoise cylinder to carry my Alpines as that can be easily attached to my main zipper or a pocket zipper. The ear plugs fit in it perfectly. So for being marketed for motorcyclists in a case that was clearly not designed by a motorcycle rider. I don't ride with music playing and certainly don't wish to be distracted by talking on a smart phone so I cannot comment on how effective they are with external comms. I have slightly smaller ear canals and they fit fine. No discomfort at all, even under a snug Arai helmet. If they got rid of the ear plug cleaner (just use rubbing alcohol) that doesn't even fit in the carrying case, the packaging plastic tray, and used a smaller and more practical carrying case then the cost could be dropped. Right now I think it is a bit spendy for what one gets, even accounting for two different pairs of protection. I've read the reviews on durability so we'll see how that goes. So far so good! First of all, I should have watched the video. The plugs come with a tool used to insert the plugs into the ear. Not the most convenient thing to have to keep with you. I road just 80 miles testing these plugs in that time they were comfortable. As for blocking noise I would give these plugs a 10 out of 10. They do a great job at greatly reducing the wind noise. At 75 MPH the wind noise was like a slight breeze. The vehicles passing me sound like they were all electric vehicles. The electric cars well, they aren't heard at all! The horn on my NT1100 I can't hear at all, can't hear the engine of my bike either! These plugs are great for Listening to your music coming from your headset. I had to turn the volume half up to hear it at 75 MPH, however it was very clear. Now I ask how much do you rely on hearing your surroundings. If you want to hear your horn, your engine, vehicle and other sounds around you, then these plugs are not for you. If on the other hand you want almost silence and the ability to hear your music these are for you. I guess you can't have the best of both worlds. 2/23/2026 March 19, 2026 Update I stand by every thing I said earlier. After several more rides and a couple hundred miles I have this to add to my review. 1. I replaced my horn with one I had in the garage. I can hear my horn now. 2. I've made adjustments as to how I insert the plugs into my ear. 3. I've ordered the two pack, this will give me a total of 3 pair. 4. Don't make the same mistake as I did.
