(edit- riding condition reviews below original) You're probably looking at this jacket after seeing the fortnine video on it from 2022. They were sold out all of '22 because of that video. I finally saw they were in stock. My local shops couldn't get them in, and I came to Amazon rather than RevZilla for no particular reason beyond my card was saved here and not there and I didn't want to go find it. This jacket is as awesome as it was made out to be by Ryan. Nothing I'll be able to say on here will be as eloquent or informative as he was. Well worth the money. It fits as expected (sizing the same as other Alpinestars jackets, like the Andes V3 I already had in my closet). Buy this jacket. Edit- the review still holds. I can now say I've tested it more thoroughly. Coldest I've been out- 14F. Toss the rain jacket inside like you're supposed to and it was a comfortable ride. I've tested the rain jacket AS a rain jacket on and off the bike- works wonderful. Doesn't get sweaty and nasty to wear like some rain jackets do. Warmest weather I've taken it out in is 75F. There was never a doubt this would do well in that. The sleeves come off and leave mesh arms, the chest and back open up into massive mesh windows. Sitting in traffic in the sun you'll be as hot as in any textile jacket, but when you're moving? Air flow is excellent without feeling like it's billowing around you. My previous summer jacket made me feel like a marshmallow on a motorcycle because of how it puffed up when vents were open. Sure it kept me cool, but was not comfortable cruising at speed on a warm day because of how it blew up like a balloon. All the mesh on this keeps that from happening. Pocket in front is BIG, and is handy for jamming everything into. I do like the side zip, but be warned if you're a bigger dude- this might not be the easiest to put on. I'm 5'11" and 245# (with a 36" waist). Little bit of a gut, enough that I can't appendix carry comfortably, and when I initially wrote my review I was 10# heavier. Losing that weight made a dramatic difference in comfort while riding and ease of getting it on and off. These jackets run a bit more form fitting than other options. They're not body gloves, but it isn't baggy either. If you're really overweight it would probably be much more unwieldy to put on and less comfortable than other options. My only criticism is the neck. I wish there was slightly more coverage from a higher collar across your throat. It wouldn't have to be much, maybe half inch or an inch. It's not a deal breaker, as I wear a neck gaiter in all weather anyways, but I feel like it's inadequate to even help keep the wind off your throat. Would I buy it again? Absolutely. It's a great jacket, replaced both my summer jacket and my fall/winter jacket with this beauty. Read more

Okay, I said three season jacket, because where I live winter is the real deal and no one around here rides in snow and ice when it's below 20F. So, my review covers my three riding seasons with temps from the 30's to 95F (so far). I rode Harleys for 20 years and used their FXRG leathers and their Transformer jacket. All good stuff, but I sold them when I sold the bikes. When I switched to an Africa Twin (HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!) 5 months ago, I really wanted to find a jacket that I could trust to get me through a range of temperatures and riding conditions. Since much of my riding takes place in temps from the 50's F to 90's F, I needed something that could handle the transition from wind chill making you colder to heat index making you hotter and this jacket does the trick for me. And, when I need a bit of extra protection on the much colder days, I just add the waterproof liner and that solves the problem. For those really cold days I add a fleece layer, which the jacket accommodates well. Last Sunday I went to the vintage motorcycle races at our motorsports park. Based on the age of the bikes, I guess I would be considered vintage as well . I took an hour long country ride in the late morning with temps in the low 70's. Very comfortable with everything zipped up, but no rain liner. Temps and humidity were on the rise through the afternoon with a lot of sun and were in the low 90's with high humidity when I headed home. So, I just removed the sleeves and opened the front chest and back vents. Perfect! What a great design! And, I still had a reasonable amount of shoulder and elbow protection. I know some reviewers don't like the main zipper location (off-center on the right side of the jacket), but I could clearly see the value compared to jackets that have the zipper in the center of the chest because I have owned that style. The Halo full width drop down chest panel gives you great airflow. I will admit that using the off-center zip takes a bit of getting used to, but it's only a small learning curve which is far outweighed by the benefits. In my experience, staying cool is far harder to accomplish than keeping warm. Heat is a real threat to rider safety and comfort if it can't be managed. I can always add layers for warmth, but mitigating heat, especially in high humidity, can be a challenge. And, for us older riders (I'm 75) it's seems to be even harder. Lastly, getting the size that fits you may the be hardest part. I wear an L jacket size and have for years, and I have a few that are mediums and they fit too. For the Halo jacket I tried both an L (way to small) and an XXL (way to big) before settling on the XL which is just right for me. The Alpinestars sizing guide is actually pretty good, but it might hurt your ego a bit. Finding a jacket in stock and in the size I wanted was a big challenge. Hopefully, you will have better luck if you decide to go this route. Read more

The vent is insanely good. Its almost like wearing a t shirt, well not quite that cool. It is also warm when zippered up. The fit seems very molded to me. The look is ok, I like it but Ive seen cooler looking coats. Read more

Do NOT buy this through Powersport Superstore! The Drystar Halo is just what I was looking for in an everyday motorcycle jacket. However, the jacket arrived missing the waterproof liner that comes with the jacket. It had clearly been returned and repackaged. When contacting Powersport Superstore, they gave me a phone number that ended up being the Alpinestars Helpdesk. It seems they were trying to push the problem back on the manufacturer. I returned the Jacket and bought it from Alpinestars directly and couldn't be happier. Read more

Th greatest all season road riding jacket I've ever witnessed, it has a manual that is an inch thick and quite useful...Black in medium is sold out everywhere, I'm grateful to this random seller on Amazon that listed this item here. Yes, ~$500 is steep, but pales in comparison to your skin getting cheese grated from the asphalt or a broken hard, shoulder/collar bone or spine. All these areas have the most quality of padding. The included rain jacket is icing on the cake. Read more
