good and warm jacket
I got this jacket at around $200 (perhaps at a discount). While riding in 40F days, this jacket is warmer than my down winter coat, because it blocks the wind. I am somewhat athletic build, 5 11, and around 38inch chest and the size large fits me well and snag when wearing a thin sweater. I perhaps if I take off the thermal liner, it would fit me a bit loos and more comfortable. The construction is solid and is what I'd expect from an over $250 dollar jacket, so nothing to worry about there. It is truly waterproof as well. I just came back from a 20 minutes trip in the rain (not too heavy but definitely need an umbrella when taking a walk), and I am completely dry! One thing to note that is the waterproof layer is not on top of the jacket, so the tactile layer WILL get wet. I guess the waterproof layer is just underneath the tactile. Only downside: while there is a thermal liner, it does not cover the zip area. While zipped, what's underneath the zip is just wind and the waterproof layer. So you can feel some of the cold wind in the middle of your chest. But I think if you are wearing a thermal base layer, you should be fine. In conclusion: good product, worth the money, waterproof and windproof, really warm, in the 40s degree, a T-shirt and a thin sweater would keep you warm, below 40s or a long trip might want to consider a thermal base layer.
