Whether or not drinking hydrogen infused water has health benefits is an issue far beyond the four corners of this review. This is an issue you must research and decide for yourself - there are data on both sides of this question as is usual for our age. Some data are more promising (that there are benefits) and some data are less so. Whatever your preconceived thoughts may be I urge you to wade into the supporting data (and the negative) and give it some thought. Putting this key issue asside for a moment, let’s take a look at the Althy bottle. It is a rechargable device that the manufacturer states will provide about 20-30 uses per charge; it uses an American made ionizing plate which is a huge plus (more on that later); has a clear LED readout for charging and for timing the infusion sessions and comes with a standard USB charinging cable. I charged it out of the box and it went green (full charge) in about ten minutes. I cleaned the bottle, followed the mostly clear directions on filling, etc. and then ran the device for 12 minutes (the maximum you can run the device before you must open the cap to release pressure). It definitely puts on a show as another reviewer mentioned. The water came out tasteless and odorless and of course was as clear as when I put it in. The tasteless and odorless part is import. The bottle works by a process known as electrolysis - this is a complex chemical reduction reaction initiated by passing an electrical current through the water. This process can naturally yield some nasty elements (chlorine) and allotropes (ozone); you wouldn’t want to drink or smell either. Not to mention such compounds/allotropes in sufficient quantity can be quite harmful (!). The American made ionizer plate provides the safety edge that all such hydrogen infuser bottles should have - the plate seperates out such compounds and vents them out through a hole in the bottom of the unit. So the fact that the water is tasteless and odorless (which it wouldn’t be if there was the green colored chlorine gas present) is a huge and important plus. As for using the device, just read through all of the directions before you use this device. Just remember a few important points: always leave some water on the ionizer plate when storing (there is a screw cap that covers the plate when not in use - make sure water is covering the plate and the screw cap is reinstalled before storage); also remember if you are doing back to back 12 minute sessions (because you want the highest level of hydrogen gas dissolved in your water) to unscrew the top cap to relieve undue pressure before you start your second 12 minute session. If you decide that hydrogen infused water is something you would like to try this bottle is a good choice. The key component is American made and that means that potentially harmful substances are prevented from being infused in the water. An added plus is it is fun to watch the lightshow as the device works. Read more
Product is ok, for the cost paid would have preferred a glass bottle and better cap and base materials. first setup insturctions not very clear Read more
This is an awesome unit that arrived very nicely packaged and boxed which would be excellent for gifting. The technology is very interesting and requires further research so I can ascertain the full benefits. It certainly puts out a lot of bubbles and the cap when released after a 12 min cycle lets out a fizz, so you know it has gassed up somehow. The water doesn't taste fizzy at all. It has a wonderful light show and a countdown timer while you are waiting. My only issue so far is the charge lifespan. The battery doesn't appear to last very long. It can be fully charged and I will run through a few cycles over a day or 2 but when the battery 'bars' are still showing 2 bars and I expect still plenty of life still, it starts up and then just stops after a few minutes or maybe only 30 seconds. BUT the battery display is still showing 2 bars which I expect is plenty enough to run a 12-minute cycle. So, so far I have spent a lot of time charging it even though it still says 2 bars. I haven't seen 1 bar yet but it won't work on 2. For $140 I expect the battery to last more than 1 day. UPDATE: I have to charge it every day. On 2 bars it just stops working. So, it works for the full 3rd bar and maybe half of the 2nd bar, then it is gone. There is only me drinking out of it, 6-8 cups (container size cups) a day. Good idea but I have to keep charging it. 2nd UPDATE: Customer service sent me another unit and it seems to work perfectly so I Upgraded my 2-star review to 4 stars. It is still expensive for a small bottle. I have to fill it many times a day. Read more
