Amazon Basics 5000-BTU Window Air Conditioner with Quiet Operation Up to 150 Sqf Cool and Fan Functions Washable

I was on the fence about getting this because we have central air and heat. The house we bought a couple years ago has a brand new one put in after we purchased the house. BUT, our primary bedroom is the last room to get air, so our bedroom is always 10-20 degrees hotter than the rest of our home. We also live in Texas, so our summers are super hot and humid. I'm so glad I purchased this! It makes our bedroom perfect now. It's nice and cold now like the rest of the house. I hate the way window units look normally, but this one isn't bad at all. I actually like the small size. It's small enough to just close the curtains in the winter/fall and you won't even know it's there. Thankfully, our bedroom windows face the backyard, so the neighbors don't have to ever look at it. It was also affordable. I'll have to get better pictures of it soon. Read more

Awesome, cheap, and effective. My room is about 120 sq ft, so 5000 BTU is enough. My dad and I were able to assemble and install it in around 15 min. Installs very securely, and blows nice and cold air. My room noticeably cooled down in about 10 min. Only downside is that it's a bit noisy, but I'm mostly saying that because my desk is right next to the window. But I can also hear it when my room door is open and I'm down the hall. The media could not be loaded. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The last one I had was the midea, which is around the same price and actually lasted two seasons before the compressor went. I’ve had many Amazon products over the years, so I thought why not especially since the price was so good. This is my first night using it at the time I’m writing this review so I may update it in the future. When I first turned it on, I admit it wasn’t cold at first, and I was a little concerned…. But about 30 seconds later…. Ice ice baby!!! it feels amazing. I can’t talk about the cleaning yet because the filter is brand new, but just like the other ac I had it. It’s very basic you pull out the filter you wash it out in the sink and then you put it back in so I don’t think that’ll be a problem. It did not come with a remote control, which is fine anyway because I hooked it up to an Alexa outlet so whenever I say “Alexa, turn on the air conditioner” it immediately comes on at the setting. I left it previously, and if I say turn it off, it shuts off.. as far as the noise? Honestly, it’s very quiet it reminds me of white noise you know the kind of sound you use for sleeping. This is actually a lot quieter than the other one. I’m really surprised. Amazon basic products are definitely getting better…. But again this is my first night if next year it’s still working and the year after that in the year after that believe me, I’ll update it and make this an even better review but if it breaks in a short amount of time, I’ll update the review either way right now I’m in heaven and I’m going to sleep. This AC is extremely efficient. It works VERY well, is very quiet, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The addition of the remote control is convenient. What’s interesting is that it doesn’t appear to drain water which is nice because we don’t see it dripping constantly outside. It’s not heavy at all and very easy to install. The only potential issue is there’s styrofoam inside the vent cavity. I am curious to see how this holds up in the long term and whether or not it develops mold growth.
