You'll need 4 AA batteries. It's not too noisy and is right size for regular olden school pencils. It gives the long sharp point like a wooden draftsman pencil would have and gives a smooth finish. If I'm drawing I keep it near me. It works good od color pencils because it's got a barrel type sharpener and not one of those broken razor blade sharpeners. Haven't had it long enough to tell you how long it will last but it seems well built, and easy to use. Read more
There is not much to say. I love it has an internal battery you charge over USB. It works fantastic and it is well made, feeling quite sturdy. I know a pencil sharpener is nothing special, but after years trying to find a good sharpener, this one came to solve all my issues. It is of a very good size, not too small, but not big. Works well for the price. The automatic shutoff took some getting used to. It has the option to power by USB, but where I mainly use it, there is no place to plug it in. So far I have not needed to replace the batteries. Read more

Absolutely the best pencil sharpener ever! Bought 1st one for my husband's work truck, I got tired of sharpening our pencils with knives. Worked better than a more expensive one I had bought for myself! This is the second one I bought for his home - for the same issue. And it doesn't break the lead either, often a problem with other sharpeners. I'm hesitant to write this review as I think we might want a third to replace my more expensive one...every time I write a high star review the price goes up unexplained...behave Amazon! Read more
If you don't have a lot of space on your desk top or credenza this pencil sharpener is a good fit. It doesn't take up a lot of space and since the pencil is inserted in the top the footprint is small. Pencils sharpen quickly and to a nice point. The price is good as well and the color black fits with most decor. Read more
Love that this sharpener is also portable. I also like that there are different settings on it. Some of the pencils did not sharpen, but majority of them did. I think there is a certain wood pencils that it can't shave down, but the generic crayola pencils were easy to sharpen. Read more
