Customers find this safe to be a good basic unit that's easy to use and set up, with a strong, sturdy construction and decent size that's easy to hide.

The safe arrived in good condition however due to what I can only assume was some rough handling in shipping the safe keypad and screen did not work however if anyone else experiences this you just remove 2 screws on the inside of the door and underneath that cover I found a ribbon cable that had wiggled loose and once I reseated it the safe worked perfect. I just wanted to put that out there in case anyone has the same issue and is facing having to send it back. Sturdy Build otherwise and decent value for money. Read more
AmazonBasics Security Safe 0.5 Cubic Feet General: I purchased the safe from Amazon Warehouse Deals (the item was backordered and I wanted to get something in place before traveling). I couldn't even tell that it had been "refurbished" or "used". All of the necessary pieces were included-2 keys, instruction manual, 4 anchors and the safe itself. If you are concerned about the safe not being fire rated, just buy a fire resistant bag and call it good. Install: I had zero issues with the installation. I ended up only using two of the drywall anchors that were included. I was able to use 3" lag bolts into a stud for the other two. Overkill? Probably, but that safe isn't coming out without the stud attached to it. I read a few reviews of users saying, "the included anchors didn't fit through the hole of the safe". That is by design. Simply take the anchor assembly apart, slide the bolt head and washer through the safe and reattach on the other side. Just an FYI, the included anchors are designed to be used in masonry or brick but will work in drywall. If you just plan on mounting it to the wall, go grab a few carriage bolts with some spring toggles and you should be good to go. Mounting to the floor? Get a lag bolt with a good "bite" to it. Sink those suckers in and you are ready to go. Usage: Keypad was easy to program and the backup keys worked great. Things that beep drive me nuts so I went ahead and got rid of the pcb mounted speaker immediately. Simply unscrew the two phillips head screws, disconnect power (I might as well tell people to play it safe) and pull the the PCB assembly. You have a couple options here. 1. Poke a hole through the speaker (long cylindrical piece making the obnoxious sound). 2. Put a glue or epoxy into the speaker. 3. Put a small piece of duct tape or electrical tape covering the hole (if you want to have the option of removing it at some point). 4. Use a soldering iron and desolder the connection points (I am a bit of a perfectionist and like things to have a clean appearance). 5. Take a pair of pliers and rip the darn thing off. I have had zero troubles with the safe of the operation of the safe so far. Pros: *Easy to install. *Secures to wall very securely. *Piece of mind living in an apartment that valuables can't just get swiped. *Good size, which makes this easy to stash away in a closet or inconspicuous location. *The two shelf spaces. It makes organizing the safe much easier. *Heck of alot better than my old "safe" that I could open with the end of my fingernail clippers. Cons: *Beeper is annoying. *Beeper is annoying. *None. Summary: You are getting what you pay for here. Sure, it isn't Fort Knox but it will stop or slow down would be robbers/roommates/junkies/maintenance men with sticky fingers etc. I plan on buying a couple more just because, I am an American, and that's how we role. Enjoy! Read more
Great safe. Easy to reset, perfect size for a closet shelf. Only downside is the included mounting hardware. It requires a large hole, which is fine, but they would not expand. I finally just threw them in the trash and mounted it with my own hardware. Read more

Great safe. Just got around to opening the box. Bought it back in Sept 2025. Noticed cap that goes over key entrance is missing. Any chance I can get one shipped out to me. I really appreciate your help with this matter. The safe is top notch. TY Read more

This drawer safe, like all similar safes, is really more of a security box than a real safe. That can also be said for safes many times more expensive, though. A burglar could take the whole safe and open it later. It includes bolts for fastening to the drawer bottom, but in most cases the entire drawer could be taken, so I probably won't even use those. For what it is, it seems sturdy and serves its purpose. It's also very easy to use. I bought it because a family member has the slightly larger model and is pleased with it. The lock has been updated so that it's more difficult to pick and the batteries seem secure. It's easy to reset the number code and the master code, which is a second number code for opening the safe. Set your code by pressing the reset button beside the batteries and enter three to eight numerals, then the # key. To reset the master or second code, press 0 twice, then the reset button, then the other code you want and the # key. It might come with a preset master code so be sure to enter two new codes of your own. To initially open the safe, remove the keyhole cover, insert one of the keys, and turn the key and the knob toward each other. Then open and insert the batteries and set both your number codes. Test before closing the safe. Directions are included. It can then be opened with either of your number codes or with the two keys in case the batteries die or you forget your codes. This fits in my nightstand drawer but is too tall to fit in my kitchen drawers. The height is about 4-5/8". The inside is large enough to hold two compact pistols, jewelry, small tablet, or similar items. The depth is reduced by the thickness of the locking mechanism on the inside of the lid, though, so thick items won't fit. This should be enough security to keep out young kids, friends of friends, or any visitors with sticky fingers or who are overly nosy. it probably won't protect things from a burglary when you're not home. The larger models will bolt to the floor or wall framing and would be a more secure, but this one conveniently fits in a drawer. I had a similar one that cost over twice as much but I like this one better so far. Read more
This safe seems good, but we locked out keys and instructions inside accidentally before we put the batteries in the keypad. I read some reviews of people getting locked out of their safes too. Luckily Amazon had the instruction book online and the instructions give you instructions if your keypad batteries ever die or you are locked out! We followed the instructions we found on the Amazon product page and used a 5 v charging cord from my husbands hearing aids, and plugged it into the slot under the keypad as instructed, entered the default code, and amazingly were able to open the door and finish our install & set up.
