Beautiful, true red color in a mid to heavy weight yarn.
This lady jacket cardigan is beautiful. Color is true red with gold buttons. It is very similar to Talbot's, J. Crew, or Anthropologie at a fraction of the cost. Knit is tight and holds its shape with the help of solid seams, reinforced hems, and a placard behind the buttons to add stability and strength. The small shoulder pads give the sweater a blazer/jacket feel but could be easily removed. Golden buttons are sized well to the piece - not overpowering and not gawdy. Tightly sewn on, they do not droop or pull - no need to add stabilizing buttons behind the originals. This is a cropped piece, but not overly so. It sits a little below the waist of a high waist jean, just as shown in the picture. This is a versatile piece for a smart casual outfit. Wear it with a pair of jeans for an upscale casual look, add a pair of well fitted trousers for a polished look, or wear it like a blazer over a dress or skirt and blouse combo. Cardi fits true to size for the design; it is a fitted style. I am 5'1" and 100lbs with a 32DDD chest, 25 waist. I bought the XS and it hits my shoulder points perfectly. The sleeves are just past my wrist onto my hand, which I appreciate. Sleeves are fitted but not tight. Cardi has a high crew neck that sits right at the collar bones. If you like a looser fit, you may want to size up one size, but I recommend you wear it as it is designed. It's a super cute look! It is a warm, heavier piece! If you run hot, experience serious hot flashes, or live in an area that doesn't see temps below 50, this may be too heavy for your comfort. (Would be great for really cold A/C offices, though.) Right now, it is still 25 degrees where I live a week before Easter, so it will get a little use the next few weeks, but I really bought it for next fall. The cardi could be safely worn by itself due to the number of buttons that keep the sweater closed. Buy the correct size based on your measurements, and the sweater will not pull or gape across the chest. The lady jacket can also be layered with a tee, turtle neck or tank. There is a slight bit of a boxy fit as expected of a lady jacket - it is the intended look!! But it isn't overly boxy and flatters the wearer's frame.
