I picked these shoes explicitly because they are nice flat small thin easy shoes to throw in my suitcase for a vacation. They are perfect for that. That said, obviously they are totally flat so there is no arch support and only the very hint of padding. I'm totally okay with that. I like these shoes; I'm satisfied they're what I need. That said, definitely size up. I tend to be an 8 and 1/2 wide or a 9 regular sometimes wide depending on the shoe. My feet often swell when I'm in a tropical location or traveling, so I'd rather err on the side of still having shoes that fit for the whole trip. Because of the reviews, I ordered a 9 and 1/2 wide here. I don't own a single other pair of 9 and 1/2 shoes. At 9 and 1/2 wide, these fit perfect. I'm uploading pictures to compare them against a 9 I ordered of another brand of flip flop that's thicker and more "yoga mat" padding. I also like those. But honestly, the nine I ordered of the other brand is both wider and slightly longer than the 9 and 1/2 wide of this. The photos with two shoes demonstrate this. I ordered the pink version of these.
