This coat is so nice and of beautiful quality. The sizing is good, and I ordered a size up because I wear sweatshirts and didn't want it to be tight, but I could have easily ordered my regular size, and have it fit comfortably. It has a wonderful quilted lining and so many pockets, which is great. The zippers are very secure and smooth to operate. The drawstring for the waist works easily and is secure to stay in place. The hood is roomy and large, which I really like as I have long hair. The exterior material is a very nice, thick waterproof material that should withstand most wetter conditions. The strap details on the cuffs are a leather material for a nice upgrade. Overall, this is a great coat, and I'm very impressed by it. 10/10 Read more
I wanted to wear this coat for a little bit before I reviewed it because it's definitely a lot more than I would normally spend on a coat, and I wanted to make sure that it was worth the money. The good: All in all, this is a well-made coat. I really like the lining, and I didn't see any issues with stitching or seams. It's a medium weight coat, but it keeps me warm on damp days. Because it's oversized, it works really well for wearing over sweaters or hoodies, and makes it a good coat for those warmer winter or cooler autumn days. I also really like the color- I went with artichoke and I really like how it looks in person, and the warm yellow lining is a fun pop of color. The zipper is also hefty and smooth, and I didn't have any issues with zipping it up over a bulky sweater. I'm 5'5", and the length of both the coat and the sleeves are perfect and look like the model pictures. I debated about sizing up because I like to wear layers in the winter, but I'm glad I went with my usual coat size- this is made to fit slightly oversized, and if you go up it will be too big. Interior pockets are a nice touch that I wish more women's coats had. I also appreciate that the exterior pockets are lined, they're nice to stick your hands into when it's cold (but more on those later). Things I don't love: The hood is DEEP, almost comically so. While this means it lays nicely when it's down, I had to keep adjusting it when it was up so it didn't fall forward and cover my entire face. The waist cinch drawstring is high on me, which is a little awkward. I ended up not using it because it looked like an empire waist on me which was a little odd for a coat of this style. The exterior pockets need a little work. While I love that they're lined, the side pockets you slip your hands into aren't deep enough for me to comfortably keep my average-sized phone. If you have an oversized phone, it will fall out for sure. I wish they were just an inch or two deeper so I felt more secure. I'll be honest I don't love the square front pockets, they just add a bit of awkward bulk. The leather cuff situation on the sleeves is a complete miss for me. Design-wise, it looks a little odd and it doesn't lay flat against the sleeve but kind of bows out (you can see it on the model). It wouldn't bother me so much except the button keeps coming undone, so I end up with this leather strip flapping around. It tends to come undone when I'm reaching in my purse or getting in and out of my car, so it's always when my hands are full. I'm not sure if it's just an issue with my one sleeve because I don't have that problem with the other arm, but I'm probably going to have to tack it down with some thread. It would look a lot nicer and be less of a pain if it were sewn flat like a trim. All of that said, I'm being very nit-picky because this is such an expensive coat. At the end of the day I do think this is a good coat that I will get many years of wear out of (once I figure out what to do with those leather strips...) Read more
The Andrew Marc women's hooded transitional coat is very well made and it is tailored beautifully. Upon looking at it and trying it on it has a heavy feel to it. This would make a great fall and early spring coat. The material on the outside is water resistant. You will stay dry for light rain but in a heavy downpour it could leak through. The inside is a thicker soft quilted material. The inside has a cinch drawstring to tighten up the coat for a slimmer silhouette. It has snaps on the cuffs to tighten them to keep out the wind. There are very large front snap pockets that can hold quite a bit. There is also an upper zipper pocket to carry small items. The hood is also quilted and unattachable. The zippers are all heavy duty and zip smoothly. Inside there is a zipper pocket to keep things secure. The length of the coat is a little longer than most.. On me it ends just past my knees. I am 5' 6" and I like the length because it keeps most of my body warm. As far as fit goes it is large on me. I would say two sizes too large. I am 5' 6" and 130 pounds with a smaller chest and I usually wear a small so I ordered a small. I am swimming in it in the arms and in the torso. I had to cinch it very tight and all the extra fabric poofs out. I would recommend ordering two sizes smaller than your normal size.It is a gorgeous very well made coat and I love everything about it, the fabric, the attention to detail with the zippers and pockets and especially the beautiful fabric and soft inside quilted lining. This coat will definitely last for years. I am going to order a smaller size since I am love with this coat. Read more
I am pretty happy with this coat. I got the fig color and it's really pretty, much prettier than I expected. The fit: The coat comes with tighteners inside the jacket. I pulled them tighter so it cinched around my waist and it looked so cute. Without it it looks nice too, but oversized. I am super happy with the pockets! There's a pocket inside (this rarely happens for women's coats, as you know), and two pockets on each side outside. I love the two pockets because one I can easily slip my hands into and the other is very secure with two buttons to put items in. The hood is huge! With my hair down it falls over my eyes! While this was annoying because I had to hold it up as I was walking, making my hands cold, if I have my hair up the hood will still cover my head- also unusual for women's hoods. The only thing I didn’t like was the sleeves. They were a bit short and wide. While it was nice that they didn't get in my way when trying to do things, they let a lot of air in and showed my sleeve inside. I got the fig color and it is really pretty. I didn’t expect to like it or for it to be as nice as it is. It's a pinkish mauve color. Very pretty and unique. I wore the jacket in 50 degree weather, an unseasonably warm day, and it was sufficient. It's not super thick or warm but I think it will be great for spring and fall especially on wet days. The jacket repels water well and the hood keeps my face and hair protected. I think the jacket is made well, all the zippers zipped nicely, buttons snapped, and no threads loose. The material and everything felt pretty durable. I think this jacket will last for some time. Read more
