Dateline: Under a Desk, in a Tangle of Wires, 3:52 AM. Down here in the dark, dusty netherworld of cable management, there is a constant, brutal war for space. Power bricks the size of small fists fight for dominance, and thick, unruly cords conspire to create a rat’s nest of pure chaos. To bring order to this domain, you need a special kind of weapon. A tool designed for tight spaces and desperate situations. You need the Anker Flat Plug Power Strip. The form factor is the first thing that hits you. It is a work of pure, unadulterated genius. The plug itself is flat, a slim wafer that lies flush against the wall, allowing you to shove a desk or a bookshelf right up against it without leaving a massive, ugly gap. It is a masterpiece of spatial negotiation. The strip itself is a long, thin, elegant slab, a far cry from the chunky, awkward power bars of yesteryear. It slides into the narrow confines of a cable cubby like a secret agent on a stealth mission. And it is a hydra. A 10-in-1 beast of connectivity. Six proper AC outlets, ready for your monitor, your computer, your lamp, your whole menagerie of electricity-hungry hardware. And then there are the USB ports—two A’s, two C’s—a built-in charging station that promises to eliminate the need for a whole mess of extra wall warts. It is a one-stop-shop for taming the digital chaos. But here, my friends, is where we must have a frank discussion. A moment of clarity. A look at the fine print of reality. The USB-C ports are capable of a glorious, high-velocity rapid charge. They can resurrect a dying phone with shocking speed. But only if you use one at a time. The moment you plug a second device into the USB bank, a negotiation takes place deep within the soul of the machine. The power is divided. The rapid charge surrenders, replaced by a slower, more democratic trickle. This is not a flaw; it is a law of this particular universe. It is a power-sharing arrangement. To expect this slim, elegant strip to deliver a full-blast, rapid charge to four devices simultaneously is to ask too much of physics and good sense. And once you understand that rule, once you accept that one, single compromise, the Anker Flat Strip reveals itself for what it is: a brilliant, specialized tool. It is the perfect command center for the modern desk, a master of spatial efficiency, and a capable, if not god-like, charging hub. Shoved under my desk in its little cave, it has brought a quiet, organized peace to a once-chaotic jungle. It is a fantastic power strip, a marvel of design. You just have to know the rules of the game. And for anyone who can read the damn signs, it’s a clear and absolute winner. Read more

Works great, no issues. The flat cable made it nice when trying to fit more in cable management. Great value for price! It was also nice and compact. Read more

There are so many thoughtful details engineered into this power strip. The low-profile shape looks elegant instead of being just a bulky box. Anker absolutely minimized the height; the prongs of plugs are probably a couple of millimeters from the bottom of the enclosure when plugged in. The rows of outlets are angled away from each other to help clear larger plugs. The plug for the power strip itself is so thin that furniture in front of it does not have to be pushed out from the wall; it is practically flush with the baseboard. The operation of the on/off switch is extremely satisfying, from the click sound to the "startup sequence" of the small, white LED ring and the surge protection LED on top of the strip illuminating just before power is delivered to the outlets. We have these all over the house, I am so glad I invested in them and continue to buy this specific model with the spaced plugs slanting in two directions and the end ports. The USB-C port really does charge fast like a newer iPhone charger block! But the biggest test was that I bought one to take with me recently on a work onsite. I flew with it in my bag and it wraps up nicely to not take up too much space and not have to be pulled out for TSA in the airport. My whole team uses MacBooks, though, and being able to plug a MacBook charger with its huge charging block into every single plug without a problem was a huge hit!!! The middle of the conference table only had two plugs on each side, so this really was a game changer for all of us and my teammates were asking where they could get surge protector for home. Even with all of the plugs taken up with giant MacBook chargers, the USB-C chargers didn’t lose any kind of power when people also plugged in other devices in the end at the same time. Someone told me a long time ago that Anker was worth the investment and I have to stay from personal experience that I would rather wait and buy an Anker surge protector, then buy a crappy cheap one because they just lasted so much longer and perform so much better. They also never get the loose plug problem that most power strips get. And as an added bonus, they go on sale pretty often so we’ve slowly replaced old surge protectors around the house and even with the kids using them frequently, they have been holding up quite well.
