Exceeds expectations

Christopher R.May 3, 2023

We've all been there, your plane is boarding, your phone is dead because it was delayed. You think all hope is lost but you then remember that airplanes have outlets, you go to find it and plug in but it's not gripping. You wish there was a solution. Well ladies and gentlemen this is it! This charger is very high power, low profile, and very good looking. I was very pleased by its performance and the usability was actually better than I thought. Having the ability to plug my phone in, leave this in the socket not bothering anybody then just taking it with me as a backup is very convenient. This thing even saved me when I forgot to charge my chromebook and got me through the day with no problems. It's also very useful for being able to charge a lot of devices only using one outlet, like being on a cruise and everyone need to fast charge before dinner. I also had to check what the battery charging speed was like for its 10,000 mah battery. I thought it was slow but I guess i was just staring at it too long. 15 watts when plugged into an outlet or when being charged by its usb c port as the picture shows. Will update in a few days to see if the battery holds charge like the other reviewer complained about. Update: About 5 days later. The battery remained charged with no issue. All 4 lights. I think Amazon should take down that other review because it is very misleading and was almost the reason i didn't buy this product. Read more

Weird Limitations

JWMay 23, 2023

This is an impressive little USB battery pack (aka power bank). Since I'm mostly interested in on-battery output, I'll address that as its performance when plugged in is pretty much on par with any other USB charger. The good: Single device output is really good at 30W for either of the USB-C ports and 22.5W for the USB-A port. That's more than enough to keep, for example, an iPad at 100% battery while plugged in and at 10WHr it should last a good long while before shutting down. Also, the flip-down US plug is super convenient and charges the battery very quickly. Maybe it's just me, but digging out a USB charger and finding a good USB-C cable to charge a battery pack is really inconvenient and is just one more thing to carry. Further, when plugged in this battery pack acts like a high power charger, so from my perspective it's a win all around. Also, the device is smaller than advertised. It's actually 4.37"x2.5"x1.22". I've measured it a few times to be sure. It's not a big difference from what is advertised, but that 1/4" reduction sure feels like a lot. The weird: When on battery and a single device is plugged in, as I mentioned, USB-C will output up to 30W and USB-A will output up to 22.5W. However, if you plug in two or more devices, that output falls to 15W *TOTAL* rather than the 30W one would normally expect. So, yeah, plug in a single USB-C device and you get 30W of charging power; plug in a second device and suddenly each device has only 7.5W available to it. Plug in a third? That would be 5W per device. This was so non-intuitive that I followed up with Anker technical support and they confirmed that was the case. Just as an aside: There is also some weirdness when using the 733 as a wall charger, but in talking with tech support I'm still not clear on how exactly that works so I can't comment on it. Update: It appears that in charger mode (when plugged in) with multiple devices the 733 is also a bit odd with it allocating 45W/25W or 7.5W/7.5W when two devices are plugged in. Oddly, it's only weird when two devices are plugged in. If either a single device or three devices are plugged in, it behaves exactly like one would expect, outputting up to 65W. The design of this thing is just perplexing! Still, for all of its little quirks it's still a nice little device. Read more

Product is Amazing and priced just right for the features it included.

This isn’t my first Power Bank from Anker with this configuration that has the ability to plug directly into a wall outlet and 10,000mAh capacity. It is worth every penny for its built quality, compact size, and how quickly it charges devices and itself. Biggest feature I was looking for was the fact in plugs directly into a wall outlet. Don’t underestimate how absolutely important this is. Most power banks require to be charged by a cable and wall charger separately into a specific port on the power bank. Having this built in reduces clutter and also allows you to take it with you without the fear of forgetting the cables and charger to charge the unit itself. Trust me, this is a huge Plus. People mention that the bank output 65W only when plugged in and 30W when not, as if that is a bad thing. This bank will replace any need to use a separate wall charger and can simply go with you on the go. It charges faster than any charger I have used portably and charges wickedly faster when plugged into a wall outlet and charging your device at the same time. The power bank itself takes about 50 minutes to fully charger, and that’s way faster thank other power banks I have tried. The device has 2 USB-C ports with one of them being the default superior one. The better of the two allowed you to use a USB-C to USB-C connection to charge itself; such as, plugging it into a MacBook USB-C port to charge its power bank. I find this overkill but a great feature to have in case. It also has a USB-A port for any of your older devices that is up to 22.5W; which is awesome! Battery capacity is on the lower side of 10,000mAh but at the speed it can charge itself isn’t really a problem. The iPhone 15 Pro Max is reported to have a 4,852mAh battery which gives you an idea of how many times it can charge your device. Don’t forget that some of that charge is lost in the charge transfer. Where this device shines is the multitude of ways you might use it. Here are some examples. Beside just using it on the go as a battery don’t forget it is pushing 65W when using it when it is plugged in itself. How about when there is no available close outlet; you can plug it in and it charges itself fast then you can use it portably. What if you are playing you PS5 and your controller is dying; well then, you can plug your controller into it portably and charge your controller as you continue to play your PS5. Charge your Nintendo Switch on the go, because Anker’s power banks were the first to be recommended and made into official products by Nintendo themselves. Let’s not forget you can charge up to 3 devices at the same time portably or plugged in as well. There is a feature that is mentioned but most people don’t see that is briefly mentioned in the super simplistic manual. A bunch of power banks automatically charge devices when they are plugged in, but this requires that the device has a minimum voltage that the power bank can recognize. Basically some low powered devices have a problem letting the power bank realize it is even plugged in; making the power bank automatically turn off. If you double press the power indicator button a green light will turn on. This will make the power bank push out a charge that will not be interrupted because it can’t detect a low powered plugged in device. Added note similar to auto-off, if you use a wireless charger like a MagSafe or Apple Watch charger; then, you power bank will have a constant and endless power draw even if a device isn’t connected to it. So in the end, this device will easily replace all your chargers, is built extremely well, and is very practical at its price point. It is commonly on sale. It comes with a soft microfiber cloth carrying pouch and a USB-C to USB-C cable, which supports the power banks max power outputs. And this device takes up small space compared to equal are larger power banks; considering, you need a wall charger and cable to charge most other power banks (most have a thinner but much longer build). This is a must buy and if you do, you’ll never go back. All battery degrade over time which you should note, but if you buy this device and it seems less than satisfactory; well then, you probably have a defective product. This is possible but just exchange it. Anker is a super reputable company. They are like the “Apple” of Chargers and Power Banks. This product has the most overall form and function that most people would need on a day to day basis. Get it!!! Read more
