It's a very comfortable, soft material. It's true to size and fits well. The fabric isn't transparent, but it's thin enough that every bump and crease will show. I am average build (5'4", 140 lbs.) and bought the medium size. I tried it on with smoothing slip shorts over smoothing underwear and was not comfortable with how much it showed. This is THE LBD you need to have. It fits so well and is very flattering. The length is perfect. I'm 5'7" and it hits just above my knees. I LOVE how high the sides come up, so no ugly boob side fat. (Pro tip: wear the deodorant specifically for little black dresses - it goes on clear and stays clear, so you don't get white rings on the underarm area.) This dress is so comfortable. It has enough stretch to feel supportive without being tight. The dress is good quality. I also like the neckline - it is a bit higher up than most, but I think it just gives such a nice look.
