I got these to feed my juvenile axolotl and it has made it SO much easier. My girl, Willow, isn’t the brightest bulb ( but she is adorable) and axolotls have bad vision in general. Being able to hold a worm by the very end and essentially tickle her face until she snaps at it has been way more effective than just dropping them on her face with a toothpick like I was doing before. She eats way more this way, less bloodworms are wasted and it’s easier to pick them up it she drops them. I have actually seen her grow bigger, faster since feeding her this way. This also makes pellet feeding easier. Honestly I’ve only used the angled tongs so far and I’d like to find grips to put on the ends to protect her but while she’s so little and I hold the worm at the very end- it hasn’t been an issue yet thank goodness. I have a 29 gallon tank and when I use the and softer I’m sure my hand/arm will still get wet but at least not my entire arm. I would recommend this set. The quality is good- it’s definitely sturdy and heavy; if anything it’s a bit of a work out to squeeze the tongs together as long as I need to because Willow’s feeding take a while but not bad. The stainless steel is resistant to rust and easy to clean and disinfect so if you set your tools down and forget to clean them you don't come back to rusty, gunky mess of sadness. The scissors retain their sharpness and tension in the pivot so you don't need to worry about muscle fatigue trying to keep them cutting. Both forceps work and the grip at the end is safe with delicate plants, if there was an option of rubber ends that would be an excellent mod, but probably nothing a little silicone cant fix. The angled forceps are especially helpful with planting substrate, since the density is so light that there is no pressure to keep the plant, well planted. So planting at an angle allows for pressure to apply to the plant preventing them from floating up. Using both simultaneously is also a good method. I am always leery about scraping metal on the glass but the double sided spatula can be used both for scaping the substrate as well as anything off the glass. Read more

These are by far my most used aquarium items. I bought these YEARS ago and I still use the tongs EVERY day to feed my axolotl and all the other pieces probably weekly to trim my plants and clean stuff up. It keeps my hands out of the water, so I don’t have to worry about grease or chemicals from my hand lotion leeching. My axolotl recognizes these tongs as the source of his food and won’t eat if he doesn’t see them. That’s how often these get used. They look as good as the day they came out of the box. The scissors are sharp, but they will rust a bit in the place where the two pieces meet. I make sure to dry them off with something after each use and they still look and work great to this day. Not only would I give them 5 stars, but I would say this is something that EVERYONE with an aquarium should have. I recommend them online all the time. If you have a planted aquarium at some point you will have a need for every tool included. The items are of nice materials, very sturdy allowing you to apply appropriate pressure on the teasers or scissors based on each plants need. Tools are a perfect size for my need, however, someone with a deeper tank may need to look at longer tools. I would definitely recommend, I did my research and concluded that for my needs and budget this was the best value / quality / piece count combination I could find. Read more

For less than $20 you get 4 tools. Considering that math, $5 for each tool is quite a good value! The scissors cut precisely but I wish they were of the “wave” design/type also sold elsewhere on Amazon. These are not truly high grade stainless steel as they epically fail the magnet test. That being said, I have yet to see any rust forming on any of the pieces. I use the angled tweezers the most out of the whole kit. I have a lot of aquarium plants and these tools definitely come in handy. If I’m lucky and not working very deep I don’t even have to submerge my hand in the water, which is a nice change. I am new at aquarium keeping. I've had my Betta (Mario) for 3-4 months and then last month started adding live plants in my 5 gallon. I've had so much fun that I added a 15 gallon and added plants (it was supposed to be for Mario because he's so amazing but things have changed - there was a sick Betta (Angelo) that called my name and he got the new tank...sorry Mario). These tools are GREAT!! I love that the sand shovel is two sided for different uses. I've used it to move gravel & substrate but also used the smaller size to help keep roots in place while I was pouring more substrate or placing rocks on/around them. I also used the larger size when I did a water change and decided to pour more substrate in some areas that needed it. It help to direct the flow of the substrate and I held some of the more flowy plants away from getting buried. I love the two different types of tweezers as well. The scissors are sharp and work beautifully. This has been a great additional and I feel a little more like a pro using them. Read more
