I breed 20 varieties of aquatic snails as well as 10 types of tropical fish. I am currently running about 600gal of total tank space some of which are on sumps and others are using hang on filtration. I spend a fortune on filtration media so I decided to try out this product after everyone has told me to do away with exspensive filter cartridges and I have been blown away at how well they work. I have been using the same cuttings for the past 3 months in all my tanks including my sump and they are still going strong. I pull the pads and give them a good rinse about once a week to a week and a half and I have found that rinsing them does not kill or remove all the bacteria. Now you have prob seen some negative reviews and I think that those are due to the reviewer not properly rinsing the filter media. You will need to use a powerful sprayer like a garden hose with a jet sprayer on it to clean the filter properly. These filters create a great biological breeding ground as well as offering great mechanical filtration and I am very pleased with it. I love that it can be cut to size very easy and it is very well made. Even after cutting the filter media it stays together no edge or layer feathering like you see with other media. I am deff going to be using this filter media from now on. On average I spend about $100 on filters each month and over the past 3 months I have not had to purchase any! Just be sure you rinse it very well otherwise it will need cleaning again in a day or two if you don't get all the gunk out of it. Read more

I love this stuff. I use it in a marineland emperor filter instead if their expensive ones. It does a much better job & since they are washable & reusable, a much cheaper deal. I cut it to fit 2 of the slots & use the charcoal holder in the other. It works so well I don't need to change the filter so often. My water is much cleaner with not so much stuff to vacuum out at water change time. Highly recommend & my fish agree. Read more

These filter pads have been working great in my tank. Water clarity improved noticeably after switching to these. The 8-layer design does a good job catching debris and keeping things clean. Easy to cut to size if needed for different filter setups. I've been using them for a few weeks now and they rinse out well for reuse. The material feels durable and hasn't started falling apart like some cheaper pads I've used before. My fish seem happier with the cleaner water. Good product for the price. Been using this for a few weeks now. It seems to be very effective. Easy to cut with scissors. Fits any size tank/filter imo. I received two sheets of material and gave one to my father to use as well. It is thicker than my original filter, although I do not see that as an issue. I am able to fit a filter and a UV Light easily in the same space. Not sure how long it will last, although, it seems easy to clean as well...so maybe a month or two with each one. Read more

Received today. Very easy to cut and nice thick storage bag included. I changed the filter media in the tank and did a partial water change which always stirs things up a bit. After an hour water was crystal clear. I keep checking and water flowing thru filter media no problem. Good product! Read more

This filter foam is amazing. I ordered it to make filters for my Fluval 207 and 407. I also use a coarse filter foam I picked up on Amazon. I am very impressed! After a week long vacation all the while my tank being overfeed buy the care taker I hired, the water was a NASTY green and almost thick looking. I cut the foam to the correct sizes for my filters and WOW! The next day the water was crystal clear. No Joke! I don't remember the Fluval brand filter foam ever doing as good of a job. This stuff is my new go to. Sure it's a tiny bit of work to cut the foam but when weighted with the cost of Fluval Filters for the same amount of foam, I'll be saving hundreds of dollars. A $20 roll will be more than enough foam for both filters for over a year. That's freaking awesome. Also the added benefit of being able to use the filter media containers for things other than foam. Because this foam is so much better less is needed. probably could of worded that better... Anyway this is a great buy for the $$$. I am very impressed with how fast it cleared up my water. Read more
