The customer service is top tier. I had a defective mask and Ada (CS rep) was on it. I received a new mask in days, no ?s asked. The mask has helped me with my dry eyes. It heats up very well at different temperatures. I like how it offers different time settings. It's very relaxing, puts me to sleep at times. Read more

Works Great! Would Be Even Better if It Is a Touch Hotter

BenDecember 15, 2024

Recommended for Dry Eyes My optometrist said I have dry eyes. She recommended a hot compress, along with taking fish oil. (TL;DR: The verdict for fish oil is that it doesn't do anything to help with dry eyes. My optometrist seems to think it's working though.) For me, I noticed the eye compress did more to help with my symptoms than the fish oil. Oftentimes, my eyes burn and feel gritty. They were bloodshot, too. Using the eye compress, I can see that the bloodshot intensity went down by a significant degree. Wet Vs Dry Compresses Before I bought this dry compress, I was using a wet towel that I would run under hot water. It takes several minutes to get hot water. I would run the towel under the running faucet for about 20 seconds. Then, I would apply the compress to my eyes. After a minute, the compress would just be lukewarm. I would have to run to the faucet to reheat my towel. By this time, I would have to wait a bit for hot water again. I did this numerous times to reheat my compress. The recommended minimum time for applying an eye compress is 10 minutes. Needless to say, I quickly got tired of reheating my towel. I was not able to perform eye compresses every night, too, because of how troublesome this was. It was a waste of water, too. Wished It Was a Touch Hotter Naturally, I started looking for solutions online. Apparently, there is a difference between wet and dry compresses. A wet compress, such as that applied with a wet towel, helps to add moisture to the eyes. A dry compress adds no moisture and can even take away what moisture is in the eyes. I asked my optometrist if I could use this USB-powered dry compress. She said it was fine, so I got this. Now, I can use the 10 minutes of applying this eye compress to meditate or reflect, along with letting the stresses of the world melt away for a bit. It does take about a minute for this device to get up to temperature. I always run this on high. Even then, I feel that it could be much hotter. I have tried powering this off a dedicated USB A power supply unit (PSU) rather than a computer USB port. There seems to be no difference in the amount of heat generated. Typically, a computer limits the current on the USB A port to 1 A to protect itself. I was thinking a USB PSU would remove this limitation. Physical Contact Limitations The eye compress does not touch all of my eye lids. I found myself having to press the compress against my eyes to help with relieving my dry eye symptoms. For those who do not know, when you have dry eyes the oil glands in your eyes clog up and stop lubricating your eyes. The plugs are the consistency of butter. The eye compress helps to melt these plugs. I try to clean the area around my eyes before I apply the mask so as to help keep it clean for as long as I can. The surface material looks like it would be easy to clean. Take a damp towel and wipe down it down to help keep away those pesky eye infections. Conclusion Overall, I do recommend this eye mask. It saves you a bunch of time, you can use it almost anywhere (it's USB A!), and does the job of providing relief from dry eyes. Read more

Does the job, lavender smells grear, doesn’t make the best contact with full eye area

AzaleaJanuary 4, 2024

My eye doctor recommended I get the microwavable eye pillows and use them for 10 min at a time regularly for eye dryness. When I am working on the computer (which is when my eyes are the most dry and fatigued) I am just not likely to get up and go all the way to the kitchen to the microwave. So I wanted to try one of these to see if I would actually use it. I definitely use it way more than I would a microwave eye pillow, and it does a decent job. It is nice that it has a timer for 20 min in case I doze off or forget it turns off. And it stays warm for the entire time rather than starting to cool over time. The lavender insert still smells great. Overall, the product seems to be helping my eyes. The only thing that would be better is if it had more of the rice sack like effect where it contours to your whole eye area. This has a pretty thin and stiff heating element and the only softness comes from a very thin cover and the stiff lavender pouch. So I usually end up needed to put pressure in areas that are not making any contact. Read more

From 2 Stars to 5 Stars

AlanJuly 16, 2021

My ophthalmologist has long recommended hot compresses over my eyes for eyelid and other eye conditions. A hot water wash cloth compress only lasts a minute and I would have to sit by the sink to keep refreshing it with hot water. I then found a mask that heats in the microwave. But you have to be very careful when you heat it as one side contains a liquid with beads that heat up in a thin expandable plastic bubble and the soft cotton side goes against your eyes. But that only stays warm for about 5 minutes and also if you heat it a few seconds too long the plastic holding the liquid can spring a leak and a new one is needed. That happened several times, in all more expensive than the Aroma Season mask. While looking for a heated product for another condition, I came across the Aroma Season eye mask. It is the only one like it that I have found. It is excellent. Caveat: initially I was going to give it 2 stars and return it. Following the instructions, when I hit the button to start the heat I could not get it to turn on. Each time I would have to press it repeatedly, sometimes with slow presses and other times fast until it would light to use the time/heat settings. Once on though it always worked excellently. I wrote to the company’s customer service. They responded promptly and offered either an exchange or refund. But once working I liked it very much, so I decided to keep trying a few more days. That was several weeks ago. After the first several days I noticed that the amount of times I would have to press the control, the problem became less frequent. After about 5 days it would light up at the first or second press and it has worked consistently every since on the first press. So my initial disappointed 2 star review is now a very satisfied 5. Hopefully that problem only affected my unit. The mask is very comfortable. It’s very light and portable to take for when I travel. When I use it in bed when I go to sleep (always on the low setting) I have an electric outlet right there. If I wish to use it when in my recliner or elsewhere where I don’t have a ready outlet, I use one of my iPhone portable DC battery chargers. I keep a small spray bottle (bought separately) with a little water in it on my night table to give a little spritz for each eye to give some moist heat over my eyes. I happily recommend this mask both for yourself or as a gift. I am sure you will be as pleased as I am. P.S. I got a second mask which I keep by my easy chair, where I close my eyes during the day to rest them from my reading. It’s nice having another heated mask there for my eyes. Every time I turn it on it starts right up at the first touch. The initial problem I had with the first mask by my bed was no doubt just a new sticky button loosened from a few days’ use. Now happily experiencing two Aroma Season masks, I reiterate my 5 star review and recommendation. Read more
