I was really surprised by this Pliers and Wrench set. They appear to be very well made with a nice machined finish. All of the moving parts came with a small amount of oil already applied to the moving parts. The action of all the tools was very smooth. The grip sections of the pliers are well machined and fairly sharp. They grip very well. The plastic grip and roll up tool bags are nice touches also. I really appreciate the carrying handle on the roll up bag. You don't know how convenient the handle is until you use a roll up bag that doesn't have one. I believe these are quality tools that should last many years. I'm very happy with my new set. Read more

The Arrow 8 Piece Plier and Wrench Set- 6" Needle Nose Pliers, 6" Diagonal, 7" Linesman, 8" Slip Joint, 8" & 10" & 12" Groove Joint and CRV 8" Adjustable Wrench - were purchased to complete a travel tool set for used during repairs/installations in leased properties. Comments following review and testing: 1. Pliers set was received and all 8 pieces are as described with roll bag for storage - all tools were incased in a plastic sleeves and had a certain amount of lubricant present for rust protection. 2. Roll bag is heavy canvas with separate compartments for each tool. Two plastic clips with adjustable straps ensure strong closure and nylon handle on exterior is included for transport. Very nice. 3. Metal and plastic components appear to be of very good quality and are well manufactured/assembled - thick/smooth metal with no burs, roughness or seams. 4. Handles are non-slip dipped as advertised, fit well in hand and should aid in comfort during use. 5. All open/close very smoothly at pivot points - no sticking but also a solid rotating feel. 6. Clamping surfaces on tips and between handles where present are heavily grooved in horizontal direction for a very solid grip with precise closing on both flat and grooved surfaces - no gaps or offset. 7. All cutting edges are sharp and close in alignment (no wobble at joint), ensuring cut follow through without shifting. 8. Tested twisting/cutting electrical wiring to 10ga (individual wires with needle nose, 3 conductor romex with linesman, metal nut with slip joint and plumbing connection with groove joint) with no issues and very easy/smooth cuts. 9. Adjustable wrench operates smoothly with worm gear and note SAE measurements on one side and Metric on other - thoughtful 10. Holding power and grip on clamping surfaces are very good. 11. Operation is good and durability and longevity are expected to be same based on inspection but only time/use will determine with certainty. 12. Have purchased several Arrow tools and impressed with fabrication and operation - very pleased with every item thus far. This is a set of 8 commonly used hand tools in a roll up pouch. Some are great, some are good enough. First the good news- The linesman, needle nose, and diagonal pliers are great. Nicely finished, comfortable handles, smooth easy operation with no play in the pivot. Easily same quality as high dollar tools. The others are good enough for weekend use or occasional use by people who are not too fastidious about their tools. The finish is excellent, but the pivots and adjustment mechanisms are a bit too loose for my preference; there is a definite discrepancy between the actions of these wrenches and a higher priced tool. As a quantitative example, the adjustable wrench. These wrenches should have minimal free play in the adjustable jaw to minimize risk of rounding the nut. I have an ancient (50 years old at least) Companion adjustable wrench of same size as the one in this kit. Companion was Sears' second line of tools back in the day, cheaper and lower quality than their flagship Craftsman line. I measured the free play of the jaw with a caliper. It was 1.05 mm for the Companion, 1.15 mm for the Arrow in this set. Not a major or noticeable difference, but the comparison was to a half century old, much abused tool that was not highest quality to begin with. I still use the Companion wrench in certain situations, and I'll use these tools when the situation is not critical. The 3 Groove Joint (=ChannelLock) are similar- definitely usable, but not up to the standard of the 3 really good pliers. Taken together, this is a great value- a single ChannelLock plier is ~$15 or more. A word about the roll-up case- not great, but again good enough. A place for each tool, with a carrying strap and 2 straps to hold it together. Read more

The value on this set is there. First, you get a really well made case, and I appreciate that they really didn't have the slots labeled, because I plan to reorganize my pliers by type instead of by brand. There's a nice handle and secure plastic latches that are adjustable. Inside, each pair was slipped inside a plastic sleeve to keep the bag clean of oil. The adjustable pliers such as the tongue and groover and slip joint had a little oil that I wiped off immediately, and the others didn't have much. This isn't unusual with pliers. All of them opened and closed or adjusted smoothly. The handles are coated in a non-slip material. All of the jaws were parallel and met perfectly. The linesman pliers actually had a slight parallel gap visible when you held them up to the light with about 1/8" at the tip that met so you could pick up or grab thin or small objects such as wire. This is a great mid-range set and you cannot beat the value, especially since being made from Cr-V. I'm happy with them. Read more
