as described, in working order, fast delivery our garden globe finally went out after two long years. we normally avoid things battery operated, but this was a gift. looks like the moon at night, love it so much (rural king). was thinking we might not be able to find the same batteries since the compartment wasn't designed to open easily (had to disassemble the bottom with a screwdriver). got it open, went looking for the same brand, here they were on trusty old amazon. put one in, good as new. bet we get another two years out of one of these. a happy camper. It's Sept. and Lowe's do not have any solar light batteries. Too bad. I took my business here. Seems to be the same batteries that were in the lights originally. Good price. Fast delivery. Only time will tell if these last. BTW, I leave the solar light out all winter here in Maryland. Read more

Why did you pick this product vs others?: This was an experiment. I needed a couple of 400 mAh AA NiMH cells to replace defective batteries in two solar lamps but Amazon was temporarily out of stock, so I ordered the 600 mAh cells instead. When the package arrived I was instantly skeptical! While neatly packaged in a nice little box, the twelve cells within amounted to VERY little mass. When an AA 600 mAh cell is noticeably lighter than even a AAA 200 mAh cell, this is a definite RED FLAG. While certainly not scientific per se, relative mass of a cell (of the same chemistry) can be a crude but reasonably quick proxy for capacity - especially when comparing two cells of the same size and capacity. I weighed the 600 mAh cell and compared the mass to the old 400 mAh cell and the new battery was less than 1/3 the mass (both supposedly NiMH chemistry). Hmmmm... Still, I have a 4-port multi-chemistry charger/cycler, so I decided to test each cell in a rigorous manner. New NiMH batteries require upwards of 6-10 full charge/discharge cycles to achieve their rated capacity. Given the cell capacity rating of 600 mAh, I charged each cell at 1/10C (60 mA) and discharged at the same rate (60 mA). I cycle each at least 5-6 times but stopped when the latest discharge capacity began to drop. I figured I'd keep an open mind and see just how each cell topped-out. In a nutshell, here are the results: 1. No cells reached even 250 mAh - most were well under 200 mAh. 2. Thee cells - 1/4 of the batch of twelve - were essentially complete junk, failing to either charge at all or topping out at less than 100 mAh. One cell immediately shot up to well over 2.5 volts on the first charge cycle - a clear sign of high internal resistance. Don't waste your money on these batteries. I was so happy to be able to order these batteries online and have them delivery quickly to my door. I always have a hard time finding them in my local store or if I do find them there is never enough of them at one store I have to run all over the city to get all that I need.
