I gave this game five stars because when I ordered this game new it was awesome and I have never played the Assassin's Creed games before, so I got the first game and have been playing it...best game with tactics and skill I have every played, I think I found a new favorite in games. What is awesome about the game is not only the story but the fighting, assassin techniques, acrobatics, and it is just a fun free roaming game where you can do whatever whenever, I have been enjoying this game so much that just today I purchased the second one on Amazon and I got the first one yesterday, I think over time I will purchase the whole series because there are six games all together. So gamesters, I would recommend this game because the story is good, the fighting, and in my opinion the whole game is plain out awesome plus this game is a free roaming game which means there is no time limit to beat the game you can take as long as you want, and if you want a good mysterious story then this is the game for you. I would warn you this game is violent you are an assassin but that just adds to the excitement and thrill of the story and game, it kind of reminds me of Jason Borne and James Bond but both mixed in together but double the strength and endurance. Also this game follows a historical plot and there are actual places and events in history, so if you like history this is it, I like history. I don't quite get the "repetive" argument on this game because the open world gameplay makes it so that you can decide which things to do outside of the basics. My guess is that the complainers just keep doing the main missions. But moving on. The story is really different because you're essentially playing your "ancestor" with the occasional cut scene into the real world to ground things and differentiate between segments. And there's a few things to do now and then like figure out what the people are really trying to get at while you're playing as your ancestor As for the majority of the gameplay = awesome! I love the free roam ability and how the character can get up and around. Learning new abilities along the way is really helpful because then you don't get thrown into all of it at once even though it would be nice now and then to have a full arsenal of abilities like at the start, but that would make the game/story less interesting. The graphics are fun and feel authentic. The ability to access the map and set coordinates is immensely helpful, especially when on the run from the bad guys. And that's where the real challenge comes in because you can't always hide and have to fight your way out until finally getting to the right destination or finding the right objective. Some of the battles are a little tricky and the controls don't always seem to work as you think, but it just adds to the fun of running around and taking out targets and Crusaders. Overall, a really solid game for anyone who doesn't like cut and dried storylines or go straight, jump, fight someone, go straight gaming. A fantastic beginning entry into open world gaming. Assassin's Creed is my favorite game franchise EVER. Really I won't go into all the amazing things about it (characters, story, huge twist at the end, super fun gameplay), but I'll give a little disclaimer: The first game was amazing for its time, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars and not 4 stars. However, some of the missions can get a little repetitive as you go through city by city by city. If you find yourself getting a little bored, don't do every single mission (I think you only HAVE to do 3/9 of each city's missions). There really isn't a reward for being a completionist in this game. This game is also an introduction to an INCREDIBLE series. And pretty much every single flaw in gameplay and story that is present in the first game is above and beyond fixed in the second game (which remains one of my top games of all time). Read more
