For me, this became a 18lb vest, had to wear a shirt to use, and it's not very breathable. I have the blue vest as pictured with 10 pockets on the front panel and 10 pockets on the rear. The weighted pouches are listed as 1lb each. 18lbs only. While listed as a 22lb vest, I could only use this as a 18lb vest. Realistically, I could only use 8 of the pockets on each panel: the 4 pockets on the top row and center 4 pockets on the bottom row. This is the same on both sides, front and back. This gives me a total of 16 weighted pouches. When I tried to use the entire row of weights on the bottom row, the 2 outer pockets would press very uncomfortably(painfully) into the bottom of my ribcage with every breath. For reference, I'm 5'7". This is the same on both sides. I've highlighted them with the red boxes on the photo. Shirt required. The inside is not smooth. There are a lot of seams on the inside due to the design with the opening to the pouches on the inside and the way the padding was designed on the underside for the shoulder. It was uncomfortable for me to use without a shirt. Think scratchy on your skin in certain spots. It gets pretty hot and a shirt is required. So now this is only a 18lb vest, I must wear a shirt, and run a fan to keep cool. While this vest offers great flexibility in terms of adjusting weights, the real max range is 18lb for me. With 20/20 hindsight, I would probably have opted to get some sort of pricier plate carrier which would give me a wider weight range by swapping out plates in the future. The small 1lb increments of this vest don't really make much of sense for my use case. I also have a 12lb vest(backpack style) that goes over the shoulders. Read more

I bought this for my oldest son whose autistic and gets overwhelmed and likes to run and last few months before school was out this helped him out tremendously his teacher and his paras thanked me for buying this for him cuz it was a constant struggle everyday with him getting too overwhelmed and running and ever since i bought this for him he doesnt do that anymore hes more calm i had to take some of the weights out but it helps out alot on the bus and transitioning from class to class or bus to class. And it didnt cost as much as one of the vests that they sell specifically for adults with autism. The problem was with those they only come with the vest wich was 80+ bucks then you have to buy the weights wich was another 40-80 bucks depending on the need, this one came with the weights and you can add or remove them as needed.
