THIS IS FANTASTIC!! (Skip to last paragraph for summary) I have thick, wavy hair/Irish curls and a LOT of it. I recently moved somewhere with incredibly hard water. For a month or so I was struggling with uncleansable greasy patches in my hair (I typically run on the oilier side, so this wasn't completely unexpected), dandruff (which I've never experienced before), and eventually mild hair loss (which was concerning, to say the least). I tried EVERYTHING. I added a shower head filter, got a new shower head completely, changed my shampoo/conditioner, added in a pH clarifying shampoo, stopped using conditioner/products, added more conditioner/products, slept with wet hair, air dried hair, blow dried hair, hair in a bonnet... you get the gist. But still, nothing worked. Until... PROS: This shampoo saved my hair. I alternated this with my usual shampoo every other wash day and occasionally about once a week or so, I threw in my pH clarifying shampoo and... all my previous symptoms were instantly gone! It clears up any mineral buildup WONDERFULLY (pro tip: let it sit for a minute or so to get best results). It smells fairly of apple-cinnamon which is delicious. CONS: I will say, this can dry out my scalp and ends (which typically run oily) if I use it too often which is why I alternate it with my usual shampoo. SUMMARY: Worth a buy, especially if you're dealing with hard water/mineral deposits. Can slightly dry out hair, so either alternate with another shampoo or use a really good conditioner. I got this to try and restore my hair and scalps ph. We recently moved and this is the first time in my life that we are using city water. My entire 39 years my hair and scalp has been accustomed to well water. Lately my hair has been a hot mess. It makes no sense other than the new city water you can smell an extreme amount of chlorine when the water is running ~ so it is stripping my scalp and my hair every time I shower. This is a good shampoo, a good value. The citrus scent is not my favorite personally but the shampoo cleans my hair well, and seems to be brining some life back into it. It was really lacking volume and becoming overly dry and really frizzy all the time with trying to adjust to the new water. My scalp was just starting to really dry out and show signs of dandruff too. Problem solved, this stuff really did the trick to help mellow out my hair. Tip: Citrus scents like this Aveeno shampoo has, have a way of waking you up through aromatherapy. Use this in the morning not at night. If you like to shower before bed then the fragrance can actually perk you up instead of helping you unwind to get rest. A solid 4 I would like to find this exact shampoo with perhaps a lavender fragrance so I could shower at night without it waking me back up with the citrus fragrance. Read more

This is a great clarifying shampoo to use once every couple weeks to get rid of buildup. It lathers well and rinses cleanly. The scent is mild and it doesn't strip the hair. I wouldn't use this more than once a week without being absolutely sure that's what you need. Daily use would definitely cause itching and scalp dryness, as others have mentioned, I would think. One of the best we've used. It leaves the hair super squeaky clean, so if you are on the oily side, this does a great job. The bottle is designed well, there's hardly any leakage and the scent is very subtle, but it is scented. I feel like it really cleans the scalp, some necessary for a teenager. Love it! Read more

I was originally using a shampoo bar which I loved in that it helped my hair feel thicker and more voluminous. I did, however, find that it made my scalp break out in small pimples all the time, as well as leaving residue. I decided to switch to this clarifying shampoo based on the great reviews. I will say that it has helped my hair feel more clean and not left any residue behind. It also smells very nice, and I don’t break out in my scalp anymore. Something I also found is that it has been making my hair fall out a LOT more than it was before. To clarify, I usually brush my hair before I get in the shower, since hair is going to fall out a little no matter what. But using the shampoo bar, I rarely got hair falling out while I was in the shower and afterwards. With this Aveeno shampoo, I pull out multiple strands of hair after I’m done shampooing. It also comes out a lot more when my hair is already dry. I could be just moving my hair from one shoulder to the other and pull out 5 strands. Maybe this shampoo is only meant to be used sparingly or once I week? I’ve been using it 2-3 times per week. In any case, I don’t think I will be purchasing this again. Read more
