If you’ve always wanted a kotatsu like me, this is a must buy! It’s made out of solid walnut and is sturdy (max load is 45 lbs). No converter is needed for USA/Canada—just plug it into a wall outlet, worry-free! Setup is fairly straightforward too. Just need to screw in the legs, flip it over, spread the comforter on top, then ease the tabletop over it. The heater itself is 400W, so not too bad. It comes with a 10 ft power cable, but this was a bit short for my liking so I bought a 15 ft cord that works without issue. The only downside is that you have to crawl under the table/comforter to adjust the temperature knob (versus having the control being on the cord itself), but it’s a nitpick on my part. Very cozy addition to the house. Ideal heat setting for me is a little over halfway on the dial. There may be clicking noises and/or sparks as the heater runs, but this is all normal. Overall, I love it! You will be hard-pressed to find a kotatsu right out of the box at this price point and style. Read more

I absolutely LOVE this thing. It was super easy to assemble--all you really need to do is put the legs on and affix the power cord. It's so sturdy and sooooooooo warm. The build quality is excellent and the heater fan is super quiet. I use this with my roommate who sits across from me. It's a little tight for two but we make it work. The heater underneath is covered by a metal grill that is coated in some kind of soft fuzzy material (no idea what it is) and it never gets hot enough to burn even with the heat on max, so it's ok if your knees knock into it. If you're in the market for a kotatsu in the US, I think this is an excellent choice. But beware you may find it difficult to leave its warm embrace... Read more

I saw woefully few reviews for this kotatsu and given my positive experience I felt like I should share how good it is for those searching but are less willing to take what might seem like a gamble on something with little feedback. When compared to other options, many of which are plastic and have inconsistent quality, this kotatsu shines. For those looking in the US for a kotatsu for whatever reason this is the best option I saw and when comparing my experience to that which I see for other models I'm glad I went with this option. It's made of wood, and not Ikea sawdust and glue "wood", the heater does not need a transformer and has a pleasant range of heat. the somewhat unique tabletop mounting gives it a cool look and doesn't rely on magnets or the tabletop weight alone to keep everything stable making it really nice to use. the top surface is nice albeit a little heavy but it's not terribly heavy and you're not going to be moving it a lot anyway. All in all I highly recommend this kotatsu for those looking for some winter comfort furniture that is an excellent desk for studying / relaxation. for those who like to play board games the surface is big enough to support most board games for 4 people as an added bonus. The only complaint I think I could make is it's not as cost effective as other options but considering the quality I don't think this is a real issue. Read more

Excellent quality compared to the cheaper plastic kotatsu’s with thin wood veneers. This is solid! The shipping company beat it up very badly and cracked on of the support trusses, but its something I easily repaired. I highly recommend this over the cheaper options. Read more

I can't say enough good about this kotatsu: solidly made, completely silent fan, no need for an external transformer, attractive, and well, it just works. We two older ladies assembled the entire thing within 10 minutes, and that was taking our time and reading all instructions. It's wonderful! Me and my spouse fight over who gets to use it, the cats love it, and we want a second one. Please bring this incredible item back in stock! Read more

I love this! I've always wanted a kotatsu and I'm so glad I finally bought one. My apartment is freezing no matter what I set my heat at, so I used this all winter and it kept me nice and toasty. I bought a plain queen sized comforter from Amazon to go with it and it works great. The table itself is very heavy and sturdy and I love that I didn't have to buy an adapter to plug this one in. Just don't fall asleep under it, you'll wake up thinking you're having heat stroke lol! Read more

I decided to buy this kotatsu over the other popular plastic kotatsu that had a bunch of positive ratings. I am so pleased (and warm)! It is made of hardwood and the instructions for putting it together are super easy. Plus, no transformer needed if you are in the US! Read more
