This works exactly as I need it to. Toss it in the water and it automatically turns on and gives me the temperature in Fahrenheit, which is the default. No need to press any buttons, it flashes red when too hot and blue when too cold and I'm happy with the default settings. The whole thing is well made and durable, I've used it multiple times and it hasn't lost any color or scratched or anything. I also verified the temperature with another thermometer I have and they are within .1 degrees of each other, which means it's accurate. My child loves to play with it too because it looks too cute. I have used other baby bath thermometers, and this is, by far, the best of the ones I have tested. The features which are offered with this little unit are truly impressive. This thermometer permits readings in either Celcius of Fahrenheit. It also permits the user to "set" the temperature range which is considered acceptable for the baby's bath. By setting the device with the buttons located on the bottom, this thermometer will flash warning ligths for temps that are higher than desired and lower than desired. I tested both ends of the spectrum, and found the device performed very well with both too cold and too hot. The flashing light was very prominent and was easy to interpret. Over and above the functionality of the device, it's also cute and should engage the little bather. The battery can be replaced when necessary, so this little device should serve its purpose for a long time. I compared this to the thermometer I've been using, Mr. Turtle. It was within half a degree right out of the box. It did have some adjustment options to dial it in, but half a degree is plenty accurate for bath water. When the water is too cold or too hot, the entire unitcorn turns blue/red, respectively. Much brighter than the turtle light. It almost looks like it comes from the bottom; it creates a glow in the water. Came with a battery, so I was using it straight out of the box.
