Hubby bought this bag prior to a 12-day trip because we wanted something large enough to hold two weeks worth of clothing and personal items that would also fit in the overhead bin of various size planes. The bag is definitely large enough for a lengthy vacation, and it seems to be sturdily built. There are several types of straps to facilitate carrying it, including backpack straps. But there are two problems. The first is that, for this size bag, the weight will always be significant enough that carrying it on your back or shoulder is very uncomfortable (unless you're a young weightlifter). We wrestled repeatedly with trying to manage it. This size bag should be equipped with wheels and a handle for toting it. The other issue is that there is no velcro strap to hold the two hand-carry straps together. That feature is important if you are checking a bag so the straps don't caught in airport machinery.
