This balaclava is pretty tough to beat for the price. I do some cold weather camping, and I like to use a balaclava for a bit of extra warmth while I'm sleeping. My old military surplus one finally bit the dust, so I was looking for a replacement. It had been extremely warm but it was bulky and not as comfortable. This is much lighter and thinner, fits really well, and helps keep me warm enough for my purposes...so far. On a really cold night, I'd want something with more insulation, which is why I think this is more of an under layer than anything else. The material, though, is nice and thin and extremely soft, making it comfortable to say the least. One of my favorite features is the breathable part around the nose and mouth. It helped keep excess moisture from building up and was still easy to breathe through. Overall, I really like this, especially for $12. However, I'll likely be picking one up that's heavier weight for when things get really cold. Read more

This balaclava works well for temps zero to 40 degrees Fahrenheit. I wear this for overnight work outside in semi-unprotected areas, where windchill is a major concern. It works great, but I also layer the balaclava with a skullcap over it and a fleece hat with ear flaps on top when it’s closer to zero or below. It keeps my face protected and it’s breathable enough that my head doesn’t get overheated and sweaty with exertion. It works great as a base layer and is super soft. It also fits me well. I like that I can wear it different ways depending on the weather. It seems to be holding up well through washes so far, but I do follow the directions on proper washing. This is a well-made and comfortable balaclava, but the most important thing to know is the sizing. Despite being "one size fits most," it is definitely designed for medium to large heads. If you have a small or even a smaller medium-sized head like me, you'll likely find it too loose to be effective. For those it fits, the design is excellent. The material is soft and stretchy, fitting snugly around the face while staying loose and comfortable around the neck. The standout feature is the mesh panel over the mouth and nose. It makes breathing significantly easier than with a solid fabric balaclava and helps reduce the issue of your breath making the fabric damp in the cold. This is a light to medium-weight fleece, making it ideal for cool to moderately cold conditions. It's perfect for skiing, snowboarding, or just being outside on a chilly day. However, it's probably not thick enough for extreme, sub-zero temperatures. Also, if you wear glasses, be aware that while the mesh panel helps, it doesn't completely eliminate fogging. Its so soft. It fit my little head as well has my husband big noggin. Meaning it stretch well without loosing any comfort. Its warm and will definitely keep the cold away with the bonus of the mesh mouth still providing protection without struggling to breathe. This balaclava is impressively warm and comfortable, with a soft fleece lining that feels great against the skin. The fit is snug and secure, conforming perfectly to the contours of my face without any pressure points or a loose, baggy feel. I particularly appreciate the mesh panel over the mouth, which makes breathing much easier and helps reduce glasses fogging, though it doesn't eliminate it completely. My only significant concern is that the very mesh which aids breathing also seems to allow more road dust and residue to be inhaled during activities like cycling. While it is very comfortable for now, the fleece interior appears somewhat delicate and seems like it might be prone to pilling after a few washes. Overall, it's a very well-designed and functional mask that excels at providing warmth without sacrificing comfort.
