My dog has always loved having a ball to chase. However, now that He is 11 years old we are attempting to slow him down a bit to preserve his body. This toy is working very well towards that purpose. We play a lot of ball in the dark during the winter and using tennis balls are hard to find in the dark. Our dog has always relied on the sound of the ball hitting the ground to guide him to the ball location. This technique has been harder for him as he ages. This ball because of its size nd color is working great for fetching in the dark. If thrown higher up so it hits the ground at a higher velocity helps our dog to find this ball. It travels far enough for him to get in enough of a run, but is not stressing his body as much as a full out run toss. It is also large enough that we can find it in the field if he misses it. As far as a glow in the dark ball itβs pretty typical as all the balls you charge up with light. Yes it does glow a little bit when you shine the light on it for a bit, but itβs nothing like the balls that have LED lights in them. However, that said itβs a great toy for us. My dog is not a chewer so I canβt give any feedback on that aspect. Read more

This is easy to throw far for my energetic dog. She loves to swing it round and chase it as it bounces. East to wash after playing outside in the winter. Read more

We adopted our adult GSD a a few months ago (mid summer) and I basically immediately removed tennis balls from his life because they're abrasive, our yard is sandy and they get extra abrasive from gathering sand, and he LOVES them which means a lot of contact on the teeth and obvious wear within days... So to replace them I tried the large glow Chuckits as well as the glow lattice version of this which comes standard without the tail or inner ball. I also tried a medium and a large chuckit, and some other similar things. He says the chuckits are ok to chase but once he "tags" them with his mouth he doesn't bring them back. The rest of the balls he barely chases EXCEPT he LOVES the glow lattice ball (no tail, no inner ball) version of this. I ordered a 2 pack, and that means I can throw one and while he is in pursuit, pick up the one he previously brought back, and reload to be ready for the next throw. He loves the glow lattice version enough he will work for the next throw with a down, sit-stay, touch, or other behavior on command! Problem is, those balls are somewhat snow colored, its now fall and winter is making reservations for snow soon... and I want to not be spending more time digging for hard to see balls in Michigan snow drifts than spending time easily spotting them and playing on... Sad part is when I went to order the lattice ball in a bright color, this is the only option-with a second ball sealed inside and a fabric strap tail sewn on. So when it arrived I was interested to see the reaction. Kevin (the Ball Snob GSD) says meh, I may or may not follow it when you throw it. Don't expect me to pick it up or bring it back. So, I did a little squeeze test. This version is much less sproingy or compressable than the glow version. Hm. Part of it is the glow ball inside is much more rigid and not at all springy. Enter the power tool, a drill and paddle bit, and supporting roles played by a needle nose pliers and some kind of snippy wire cutter thing. I put enough holes in the inner ball to make it somewhat like a wiffle ball (by inserting the paddle drill through the larger holes in the outer ball and causing minimal damage to the orange ball). Sproing factor improved. Kevin still says way less interesting than the gold stabdard glow balls. Ok make the holes bigger with the clipper. More sproingy. Still meh. Removed the inner ball entirely by mangling it into pieces and pulling the bits out through the holes.... Still meh. I suspect to Kevin's preference, the tail is dumb it bounces weird. Used clippy things to rip the stitches on the tail (yes scissors work better but I'm lazy, it's getting dark, and I already have the clippy things in the back yard. The stitches are well done and seem very durable, so removing them took a while but I was determined). Ok so now we have a liberated solo empty orange lattice ball. It still has a slightly firmer texture than the glow ones, so he only returns it part way usually and will suggest the gold standard glow balls instead by grabbing one on his way back after abandoning the orange one. However, I give it 4 of 5 stars because it is good at what it is. I knocked on because I'd wish they had said it doesn't compress as well as the identical looking except for color glow ones. I also think they're missing a market for people who want the lattice version in a bright color, especially since not all dogs are as snobby as Kevin about their ball preference. I'd have loved the opportunity to purchase the orange lattice version without the tail or inner ball becauseI kind of expectedhe wouldn't like the additions but I wanted the orange ball and was eilling to sacrifice the "extraneous" stuff if needed to get him to like it. I haven't tested float yet... Read more

My Malinois goes crazy for this ball. It is his absolute favorite toy! The dog park we go to isn't big enough to use a Chuck-it but the strap on this ball allows us to throw the ball far enough to really run Korben. The ball itself is very durable however the strap is not - at least for our dog. We don't let Korben play with this ball without us so that we can make sure he doesn't chew the strap off, which he can do very quickly. Once he chews the strap off, it becomes one of his regular toys and we buy a new one - we are probably on our 7th or 8th ball but we have been purchasing these for well over a year. They are cheap enough that it is not a big deal to buy a new one every 3 to 4 months. Read more

We love this toy for tug and fetch. The inside ball does glow in the dark, though holding up to light first helps a lot. Our German Shepherd chews through rope toys so this was a good alternative. The orange silicone ball that surrounds the glow ball inside has held up fairly well given that it gets stretched quite a bit during tugging. Read more

This is advertised as a floating toy and pictures and video of retrieving. The throw part is fine but the ball is barely visible above the water so very difficult to sight for the dogs and people. There is also a lot of conflicting information on the Amazon site regarding the ball sizes (in one spot it talks about 2 1/2 and 3 inch balls and another 3.5 and 4.5 balls. On teh Amazon site it also says the 4.5 ball is suitable for all breeds yet I now find on the Chew King site it talks about the 4.5 for large breeds. My smaller dog had trouble with the larger ball size and the throw strap wrapped around her front legs. It may be OK as a throw toy but I think if you want a water toy there are a lot better choices out their. I also purchased the Lighthouse throw toy and am happy with it. . Read more

I have a 40 pound dog and while playing tug of war the strap is almost torn off. The ball is great and tough. I love that it glows in the dark and the orange outside plastic is tough. You can see it easily and find it easily in the grass Read more
