Trays fit snugly together and lid also, so steam is held in. Silicone handles on trays is a nice touch for comfortable handling. Metal base ring allows usage on various size water pans - very good thing. Silicone tray liners is another terrific touch - so using cabbage or lettuce leaves not necessary. The steaming capacity is sufficient, because of the dual stacked trays, I was able to make 5 steamed buns on each tray. The appearance of the bamboo tray looks nice. It's very easy to use as it sits right on the pot. well worth the value. There is a small circle dough cutter and a potsticker maker. The reason why I only give this a 4 star is because the metal tray that is to be placed on the pot over the boiling water gets very hot, and the handles on the trays were small which makes it difficult to remove the tray after steaming. I bought this steamer to steam bao buns, and it worked great for those, but I also use it to steam vegetables and I am literally stunned at how delicious the vegetables taste after being steamed in this bamboo steamer. There is no comparison between steaming in a pan and using a bamboo steamer. It is very easy to use and comes with a metal ring that goes on top of the pan of water and then the bamboo steamer sits on the ring. The ring offers flexibility in terms of the pan size and creates a stable base for the steamer. It also includes a dumpling press and a round metal cutter (like a cookie cutter) for cutting the dough into the right size for dumplings or bao buns. The price was reasonable. So I bought the regular and non premium set. It comes with 2 steamer bins + a lid. It is high quality construction! You use it by putting this adapter ring on some sort of water boiling vessel and then placing the baskets on top of the metal adapter ring. The adapter ring dimensions per my photo: it's about 6.35" for the inner circle in diameter 11.25" from edge to edge in diameter This means as long as you have a pot that is within 6.35"-11.25" in diameter, you steam food with the adapter ring. To use, because it is a permeable form factor being bamboo, you can just keep the water boiling instead of having to taper down the temperature like with an impermeable steel basket + lid. It comes with 4 silicone food grade safe 10" diameter mats for cooking! Silicone is the same material on parchment paper. A few things related to care: The manufacturer wants you to let the steamer air dry for 2 days prior to storage after rinsing with soap and water. Because bamboo is similar to wood in that it will absorb moisture, do NOT let it soak in water for more than 5 minutes. You can also apply wood oil to it once it is dry to prolong life. Not dishwasher safe or microwave safe. Try to keep 1"-1.5" of space between dumplings so when they expand they do not stick to each other. I was very excited to use it as soon as it got here. The food came out fantastic and the product seem very well made. There is one issue though the pot ring it came with is not perfectly flat so steam was escaping out of the sides. Luckily the ring is thin enough that it bent backwhen I placed a kitchen weight on top of the steamer. Kind of annoying to have to do every time. Read more
