2025-03-13. Charging cables by Basesailor. 10-feet (3 meters). Nylon braided. Set of 2. Grey. This set comes with 2 cables, both 10 feet in length. One cable is your regular USB-A port to USB-C port, and the other cable is USB-C to USB-C. Each cable has different capabilities. The USB-A to USB-C cable is limited because of the USB-A port. This cable can only carry current up to 3 amps, which means it's only capable of delivering 15W of DC (direct current) power. The USB-C to USB-C cable on the other hand can deliver up to 100W of DC power (20V@5A). Both cables are also capable of transferring data. Equipped with USB 2.0, it can transfer data a max of 480kps. This is by far not the fastest cables out there. On the contrary, 480kps is pretty much the minimum standard now a days. Still ½MB per second isn't bad, for a point of reference, you can download your average 3-minute song (at 192 bit rate) in about 8-12 seconds. I ordered these cables by Basesailer because I actually wanted the slower charging speeds. Faster charging speeds means more heat generated. And heat is the number one battery life killer. This is why devices with "Quick charging" will get you 50% in 30 minutes. After that, the smart chips will meter the power more slowly to allow the battery to cool and prolong its lifespan. This is why those last few percentage points takes 20 minutes! Since I do most of my charging overnight, I don't need 100W. In fact, even at the slowest speeds of 5W (5V@1A), which will require 5-6 hours to fully recharge a cell phone, is ok as I'll be sleeping anyways. I do take the USB-C to USB-C cable when I go out because when you're out, you want the fastest charging speeds possible due to time (or lack of it really). I opted for the 10-feet (3M) cables for use when I travel. Sometimes, hotel rooms don't have USB ports right next to the bed, and in those instances, I need to find an electrical outlet for my charging block and this distance is typically enough to reach.
