Berne Mens Heartland Washed Duck Hooded Work Jacket

So far, I love this jacket. It seems to be very well made and is very comfortable and warm. I bought it to replace the Carhartt I got that was too big and too stiff for my liking. This jacket is a softer type canvas and has very soft yet snug fitting wrist and waist cuffs that seal out the cold air nicely. Still has a little stiffness from being new, but I know it will soften up some more as it breaks in. It has a nice strong zipper, and some reviews mentioned the zipper sliding hard, but mine isn't bad at all and I'm sure will also smooth out after some use. I am exactly 6ft., 180 lbs. and I got the medium tall because some of the reviews said the regular medium was too short, but I'm almost thinking I should've gotten the regular. I like my jackets to fall right at my waist line, and the tall hangs a bit lower, falling just an inch below the top of my back pants pockets, which is not terrible but makes it not as easy to reach into them for my phone or wallet. The sleeves are also slightly longer than I need them, but again, not terrible. It fits me comfortably around the chest and there is plenty of room and movement in the shoulders, which I love. I’ve used Berne Jackets for 10 years now and there very rugged and durable. The stitching is very good and has plenty of pockets. The material is of some type of canvas material like the one used on tarps and it’s waterproof to some degree. Personally there almost the same quality as carhartt if not better and less money. This coat is the warmest!! I got it for my husband and now I wish I had one like it. It’s longer so keeps his tail warm too, lol. It’s 18 degrees here this morning and with the wind feels like only 8 degrees but no wind cuts through! Absolutely recommend and would give it 10 stars if I could. I’m 5’10” 163lbs the M reg coat is a perfect fit. The sleeves and torso are the perfect length with plenty of arm and shoulder mobility. The middle is a little snug definitely for a slender build. The fabric stitching and zippers are all tough enough for harsh working conditions. Ample sized pockets and large hood are a plus. This coat seems to match the quality of the craftsman it replaced and that one lasted 6 years. I would call this coat a great value. Read more

I am a barrel chested guy with longer arms. 6'2", 56 inch chest, 40 inch waist, 37 inch arms. 260 lbs. It's always a problem finding a jacket at a good price that fits my proportions comfortably without being tent like. This jacket is an exception. It feels great just putting it on. Unrestricted movement without riding up at the waist or wrists as I move around is something I never get to experience. But this jacket is perfect in those regards. The elastic hems seem very tough and durable, as does the fabric. Unlike some reviews, I don't find the hood to be abnormally large. It fits well and is warm. Plus it functions as a neck warmer if tied loosely behind my neck when I'm not wearing it. I also think the exterior pockets, while not insulated, are placed well. Love the inner pockets too. It won't replace my favorite leather jacket for wearing to work or for a night out, but it's my new favorite for most everything else. Read more
