After being aired out, as it does have the typical smell that most natural material baskets have, it's become a beautiful and functional part of my living room. We use it to store throw blankets and extra throw pillow covers, and it fits quite a number of them. It would be a great laundry basket as well, and probably hold 2 medium sized loads of laundry. The cover fits well and securely, and the basket itself has a nice weight to it where it feels solid and like it will last. I'm impressed with how sturdy and well constructed it is and it looks great! Love this basket! It's very sturdy. I originally bought it to house a 5 gallon water jug, but eventually we did away with that and now it adds some much needed texture to our living room. Currently, it hides seasonal pillows and I live the way the candle warmer turns into a little table, creating a little glowy nook by our fireplace. I was aware of the smell issue because I read the reviews, so I knew I'd want to air it out for a bit before adding blankets. I set it out for one week, lid off, before using it. It did help, but not completely. The smell is slowly dissipating over time. I googled it and apparently it's from a toxic chemical sprayed on things like this to keep critters at bay, especially for storage in warehouses. Now that I read that, I may do as many websites said, which is to put baking soda in it for a while and then vacuum it out. If not for the smell, it would get 5 stars. It's very sturdy. It holds one large, fluffy blanket from costco and one small blanket. It's beautiful. Love the natural color I got. Read more
This basket is adorable but the lid is weirdly a different shade than the basket itself which kinda bothers me. Especially cause in the pictures provided on Amazon it shows the lid and basket being the exact same color. Pros: 1. Large and roomy 2. Easy to put together 3. Quality is great 4. Looks good 5. Sturdy 6. (I got it on sale for $54.00) so it was great for its price. Cons: 1. The lid is lighter in color than the basket color. (if you have OCD or you're an aesthetic type of person it is kinda bothersome.) 2. The wicker smell is VERY strong when opening.
