Works great on with studs too!!

Just set it up (didn’t have a level on hand) nice and sturdy. I also ordered some lag screws so that I can mount it in my apartment. The description doesn’t recommend drywall and studs but it works just as it would in any other material. Easy set up and installation. Mounting is much like mounting a tv. I used some scrap wood to keep the bottom from rubbing against and ruining the drywall. Read more

Good value if you know what you’re buying.

Simple to put together, seems sturdy enough. I weigh 185 lbs and there some noticeable flexing doing chin ups. I don’t know how it would hold up to a heavier person. Also, I followed others advice and added boards behind it to keep the rubber stops from damaging the walls. All in all exactly as described and perfect for home use but not gym quality. Read more

Instructions lacking but great product you can DIY!

According to my husband, the instructions were terrible. He took 4 trips to hardware stores to buy tools and hardware to mount it into concrete because it didn't come with what was needed. Every step of the way, he ran into an issue that sent him to the store again. Tip: For concrete, buy a heavy duty hammer gun and some concrete filler for the template mistakes. But now that it's up, it's great and he uses it every day! Read more

Great, sturdy pull-up bar!

We purchased this after hearing of the benefits that "hanging" provides. I had an 80-year-old family member of a patient who was in great shape. She attributed her health in part to "hanging". I had never heard of this, but was intrigued, so I decided to try it! We installed it on the pergola right outside our back door for convenience and the height is perfect. We try to go out daily and see how long we can hang from the bar--it is more difficult that you might think! I am now to the point where I will also do several hanging knee raises and have noticed increased strength in my abdomen (I hate doing sit-ups, but the knee-ups are great!) It was easy install and I really like the comfort grips. Read more

Instructions for dry wall

NOTE: These are not the official instructions from the company, or endorsed in any way. These are just the steps that I took to mount this on dry wall. These are the directions for installing the bar on dry wall with a stud spacing that is greater than 19". If your stud spacing is between 12" and 19", you can drill lag screws through the provided hook holes straight into your studs instead of getting the hollow wall anchors. The materials you need cost about $70 at Home Depot, given you already have the tools. This took me about 5 hours to complete including 3 trips to Home Depot, but hopefully with these instructions it will take you much less time. You'll need: - A piece 28" x 48" of plywood (the width should be 4 inches wider than your stud width, but at least 26" because that's the width of the bar plus an inch margin on each side). - 8 hollow wall self drilling anchor with screws that can hold >150lbs each like the ones shown in the picture. (these will go through the holes of the provided hooks) - 8 #12 x 3" screws separately because the ones in the pack are only 2" long. - 8 fender washers: size 1/4" x 1 1/4". - At least 6 lag screws: size 5/16" x 3" (these will go into your studs). - At least 6 fender washers: size 5/16" x 1 1/2". - A stud finder. - A level. - A pencil to mark hole positions. - A drill. - A tape measure. Steps: 1. Drill lag screw holes in ply wood 2" from the top, and the width of your stud spacing apart, centered horizontally. 2. Repeat step 1 in the vertical middle of the board, and 2" from the bottom of the board. 3. Drill a 9/64" pilot hole in a stud at a height at the limit of the reach of your fingers. 4. Screw one of the 5/16" x 3" lag screws through a 5/16" washer, through the top corner of the board, and into that stud hole, but not too tight, because you'll need the board to pivot about that hole. 5. Pivot the board so the top is level to the ground 6. Find the stud on the other side and mark where the other top corner hole is in the board. 7. Let the board pivot back down and drill a 9/16" pilot hole into that stud. 8. Pivot the board back up and screw a lag screw through a washer, through the board, and into that hole, but only about an inch deep, not all the way because you'll need to take it out later. 9. Mark where the other lag hole screws will go on the wall along the sides of the board, but don't screw them in yet. 10. Mark the the top hook holes about 2" below the top lag screws, and 17.5" apart, centered horizontally on the board. 11. Mark the bottom of the upper hooks' holes by placing a level along the side of the hook, placing the top hole of the hook where you marked in step 10, then marking where the bottom hole is. 12. Repeat steps 10 and 11 for the lower hooks at the height of 19" above where your elbow is when you stand with your back against the wall. 13. Drill a 1/4" through hole into each of the marks in steps 10-12, just far enough to break through the board, and to mark the dry wall, but don't drill any more into the dry wall. 14. Unscrew the lag screw from step 8, and let the board pivot back down again. 15. Drill 9/64" pilot holes into each of the marks from step 9. 16. Screw the self-drilling hollow wall anchors into each of the holes that you marked in step 13. You may need to pivot the board around to reach each of the holes, and you may even need to take the board down completely. 17. Put the board back up with the lag screws and 5/16" washers. Screw all 6 of them in. 18. Screw the hooks in with the #12 screws and 1/4" washers. 19. Mount the bar on the hooks and your done! Note, when you first start using the bar, you may hear the dry wall "crunch" a little bit from the hollow wall anchors compressing the dry wall. This is ok since they'll still be anchored to the board itself. Good luck! Read more

Good product, poor anchors

Good product but the anchor set is poor quality, I prefer to buy new ones and install them. The original anchor measure are not “regular” is something around 12 mm, over 7/16 and less that 1/2. Read more
