This part replaced an all metal T-Valve (that came with a Kohler Bidet Toilet Seat) that wouldn't thread onto the plastic intake of my toilet. With the metal part, I couldn't get it to screw on straight so I was worried it would strip the plastic intake, so I gave up and ordered this part with a plastic to plastic design. It screwed on without much difficulty and is working with no leaks so far (it has been a couple of weeks now). The added feature of a shut off valve makes this ideal to use with an inexpensive bidet add-on for extra protection against significant water leaks. I'll shut the valve whenever I won't be using the bidet for an extended period of time, since shutting it doesn't turn off the water to the toilet itself, just the bidet. The bidet I bought was a replacement since these generally start leaking after a few years. But the recent ones use metal to attach to the toilet tank and will leak even with thread compound. I bought this because it uses plastic. In addition, the turn off valve only shuts off the water to the bidet, not the toilet, so replacing the bidet in the future will be a breeze. It will connect to 1/2 or 3/8 hose (with adapter) included to the bidet giving further flexibility. Best point is that mine doesn't leak, though some reviews have had issues with leaking.
